I think it’s because they don’t have a deep blue dot city in their state.

Why yes, I believe it would. As Henry Ford stated, the only ways to create real wealth are to grow it, mine it, or make it.

How do you explain Massachusetts being in 1st place in the rankings?

Back in the 1970’s ND was the world’s third leading nuclear power, after the US and Russia. ;>)

From the article;

It also ranked second in environmental policy, which is influenced by a state’s level of air pollution, and placed fifth in the human resources factor that looks at the availability of skilled labor and a widespread commitment to education and training.

Thanks for posting that link. I had missed that story. BTW, some are expecting Attorney General Stenjehm to seek the Governorship.

Nah. I think it's because of all the Canadians getting their healthcare in ND.

You are both wrong.... ND is the primary supplier of Wheat to Pizza Hut! There’s a lot of crusts to be made :)

This must be due to drilling in the Bakken. N.D. has passed Oklahoma and is closing in on Louisiana for #4 in oil production by state (behind Texas, Alaska and California [and U.S. federal waters of the gulf]) - from next to nothing 5 years ago.

North Dakota rose from 41st in 2008 to 34th in 2009 in the area of openness, which measures how connected the businesses and residents of a state are with the rest of the world. That measure is based on the level of exports and the percentage of the population born abroad.

This ridiculous, pc, emocrat metric, together with the fact that Massachusetts is #1, makes this seem like a somewhat dubious distinction.

Yes, but now they have removed both the Bomb Wing and the Missile Wing from Grand Forks. All due to politics and not because of strategic thinking.

As Henry Ford stated, the only ways to create real wealth are to grow it, mine it, or make it.

Huh?

Wealth, like happiness, is never attained when sought after directly. It comes as a by-product of providing a useful service.
