Ohio gubernatorial candidates raise big bucks for 2010 election

Ohio gubernatorial candidates Ted Strickland and John Kasich jumped into the 2010 election year with millions in their campaign pockets and on pace to make their race one of the most expensive in state history.

Gov. Ted Strickland Strickland, the Democratic governor and former congressman who raised a record $16.8 million for his 2006 gubernatorial bid, raised $6.4 million in 2009. (His 2006 GOP opponent, Ken Blackwell, raised $12 million.) Thanks to strong fund-raising in 2008 and early 2009, Strickland has $6.4 million on hand, more than any incumbent Ohio governor 10 months before an election in state history, his campaign says.

Kasich, a former Republican congressman, Wall Street executive and Fox News personality, raised $5 million in 2009, the bulk of it in the last six months. Kasich, who officially announced his candidacy on June 1, has $4 million on hand. Each received tens of thousands of dollars from their respective state and county parties. Also, dozens of corporate executives, lawyers and developers and others contributed at least $10,000.

Strickland's donors included many unions. Kasich received $10,000 from former GOP vice president Sarah Palin's political action committee.

I really like Kasich. I’m loving this endorsement. Was surprised this did not come sooner. People love harping on the McCain endorsement but not endorsements like these. She gave him 10 grand..her PAC must have made some serious cash. I thought the limit was 5 grand but hey, what do I know..this is GREAT news. I hope he wins

As the saying goes: “Good news is no news.” The Sarahphobes will continue to harp on her for her support of McCain, and will ignore everything else. It’s as if her entire life doesn’t matter, and what only matter is her support of McCain. Those idiots even have the balls to call her a Rino, which gets under my skin. Still, it’s a great way to fight the good fight.

I wonder how much TARP money the Obama Administration will divert to Strickland?

Yep the haters are researching as we speak on why this guy is a bum and Sarah is a traitor for daring to support him.

I can’t wait until the debate to hear how Ted plans to pay for the upkeep of the train to no-where.

Yeah, I don’t mind people like that, its like Charles Barkley once said “Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one” which is true. I just happen to disregard those who bash Sarah because in all honesty, they never liked her anyway

Thank-you SarahPac for helping. Perhaps we can save Ohio afterall? With the new unemployment numbers out and finding out the county just to the south of ours(Morgan county) now has a 17%+ official rate with ours not too far behind something has to happen soon.

Hey y’all, there is a rumor making the rounds that Kasich is much more excited about a donation he received from a close friend then from the big bucks that Sarah’s pac sent.

It seems he received a $20.00 check and a personal note from Gar Condit that holds a special meaning for the former power house congressman.

So what is that supposed to mean? Gary Condit is just a former congress critter who happens to know Kasich. You did know that the girl who disappeared killer was found and had nothing to do with Condit, right?

I posted this on another thread, but it seemt to apply here, because our Illinois primaries are in just a few days.

I don’t do facebook - have never been on it, but is there any chance to find some way to convince Sarah Palin to let people know that if she could get the information out that Kirk is a extremely liberal RINO, and support Hughes, that it might ease the angst some people seem to feel about her support for McCain.

It doesnt offend me that she agreed to support the man who made her his vice-prisidential nominee.

The reason Scott Brown was able to pull off the miracle in MA is that the whole country was FOCUSED on that election.
It was the only big election going on that day.

Now that we are having the first national primaries in Illinois this coming Tuesday, everybody with any pull or with any influence needs to really shout as loudly as possible that our Senate race needs to be the focus for the next few days.

It’s time to send a message - NO MORE RINOS!!!

So, you know this from your retreat in darkest Carmel, Indiana?

We in Ohio will decide this election.

Well of course you fellas from Ohio will decide this election. Will that be from say, Toledo or Youngstown, Cleveland or maybe Cincinnati?

Oh by the way, Carmel is not dark, maybe a little tan but definitely not dark y’all.

Columbus and vicinity will swing the deal.

After 16 years of RINOs Voinovich and Taft, Kasich comes off as a John Bircher to many
