TX Gubernatorial candidate, Debra Medina
Texas Tribune ^ | Jan 30, 2010 | Texas Tribune

Posted on 01/30/2010 9:00:28 AM PST by GWConservative

Debra Medina of Beeville, Texas, is a former Wharton County Republican chair and a Republican candidate for governor in 2010. A dark horse in the race, she persistently polled in the single digits behind the better-known, better-funded Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Medina has her roots in the libertarian side of the Republican party. She has campaigned in the past for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Clute, and she has some of his other supporters working in her campaign.

Despite being viewed as out of the mainstream, Medina's political potential in the run up to the 2010 primary includes the possibility of forcing a runoff between rivals Perry and Hutchison.

Her proposals include promoting a statewide ballot initiative to impose term limits. The other statewide initiatives are:

* Life

* Spending

* Property rights

* State sovereignty

* Party platform

According to her Web site, Medina is married with two adult children. Medina received a nursing degree from Baptist Memorial Hospital System in 1984 and a bachelor's degree in business management from Le Tourneau University in 1995.

She is currently the president and CEP of Prudentia Inc., a medical claims management and legal consulting firm.

Debra Medina is one of many up-coming new Republicans, closer to the center than many old think RINO SELLOUTS now in office. KBH has been in Washington too long, now know as Senator "Bailout". Her fake, cheesy grin was too painful to see last night. Toll-Road land grabber, Rick Perry takes credit for a so called State surplus that would not exist if not for the "stumulus" money he accepted. It is time to kick all the crony pols out of office. I am voting for a real conservative, Debra Medina. We need more folks like Debra Medina to stand up nation - wide.

Ping, over here.. the amateur-hour RINO has some fans.
I notice this advertisement didn’t mention her scolding KBH for voting against Sotomayor, her mixed comments on border security, and her cluelessness about Texas law.

Texas doesn't have statewide ballot initiatives. In 2009, our law changed to only have legislatively-referred constitutional amendments.

I like what little I’ve read about Ms. Medina, but there are too many PaulHaters on FR that despise him so much that they would probably end up either staying @ home on election day or voting for the Democrat should she win the nomination.

She has campaigned in the past for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Clute, and she has some of his other supporters working in her campaign.

If you search on FR there are numerous other threads where Medinabots are getting their asses handed to them wholesale.

You can stick a thermometer in Medina as she is done.

She has campaigned in the past for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul

And that's a real selling point, too. < /sarcasm>

I am voting for a real conservative, Debra Medina.

Please post what she has done that proves she is a conservative.

Note, I wrote done, not said. Obama has proven that actions have meaning and words do not.

Puh-leeze! Debra Medina is only going to force a runoff between KBH and Rick Perry. I watched the debate and was not impressed. She can hardly talk. Forcing a runoff will make them both spend more of their campaign cash to fight each other. KBH’s primary campaign consists primarily of “Rick Perry Sucks” rather than any positive ideas of what she plans to do differently. Running for governor is her retirement plan.

Rick Perry is not the best, and I am hoping that he has seen the light on the TTC. The best way to lose the Gov’s race to Bill White is to support Debra Medina.

Good luck with that. Remember Ross Perot?

The only reference I can find to that business outside her political bio is a ‘make money fast’ site that pimps network marketing (ie MLMs).

I would love for Medina to run for Congress or LT Gov. One, it would be easier to get elected to those positions, two both have more power than Texas Gov.

And as a side note, there are tons of ads from KBH decrying the “land grab” aspect of the TTC. I would like to ask her what her opinion of the US Highway system is.

All of the links to her ‘ballot initiatives’ don’t work. I guess she realized she was being mocked for not knowing this simple thing about Texas law and voting and pulled them. The party platform thing was pretty funny. Wanting a ballot initiative to define political party platforms.

How is she on illegal alien amnesty? KBH has a soft spot for illegals. What about Perry?

She probably needs to run for something like dogcatcher or a city position first before she tells everyone she is qualified for the CEO of our state.

Perry attempted “Operation Linebacker” which would have put the State Guard on the border. The federal government blocked him saying it wasn’t the State’s jurisdiction.

Medina has made a lot of mixed statements on the border. She claims to be for security but also says it isn’t the State’s jurisdiction to enforce. She also has complained that the GOP’s position on immigration is harming our image with Latinos.
