Sean Hannity Attacked for Calling Sarah Palin “Governor”
David Horowitz's NewsRealblog ^ | Calvin Freiburger

Posted on 01/28/2010 4:46:13 PM PST by Michael van der Galien

It’s sometimes tempting to think that, with all the petty and stupid attacks against conservatives out there, we have to have seen it all. But if there’s one lesson you should take to heart about the Left, it’s this: Never say never. It can always get worse.

Today’s example is a recent post by True/Slant’s Austin Considine, who complains that Sean Hannity, while discussing last night’s State of the Union Address, had the idiotic, inexcusable, unmitigated gall to…refer to Governor Sarah Palin as, um, “Governor.”

Let’s get something straight. That’s to say, let’s underscore the obvious: Sarah Palin is not a governor. She’s not even a “governor” in ironi-quotes, which is what one might have called her during and after the 2008 presidential campaign. In fact, she doesn’t hold any form of public office whatsoever. The governorship she used to have was abandoned before she finished her term. Experts are still deciphering her Twitter tweets to figure out exactly why she left.

You had to feel sorry for the next guest, Governor Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania, who is actually a really real governor and commanded much less respect from Hannity, who couldn’t refrain from interrupting him every 30 seconds.

Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you no shame, Mr. Hannity? I can’t bear to watch any more…

I understand full well the standard etiquette with addressing former high office holders. I know that former presidents are still called “Mr. President.” I know it’s common to do the same for former governors.

No problem. At 12:01pm EST 01/20/13, we can simply call her “Madame President.”

Calvin Freiburger has lost it.

Former Aldermen, Councilmen, Mayors, Congressmen, Senators, Justices, Vice Presidents, Presidents, GOVERNORS, are adressed in polite conversation by their former position. Much as retired military personnel are addressed by their military rank at retirement.

I suggest before he go off on another Olberman Rant he read Emily Post’s book of manners.

I still call her Governor Palin. I could say “Former Governor Palin”, but I’m just not that anal.

Bingo. Every retired officer I run into, I still refer to by rank until instructed to do otherwise, and I'm just a silly civilian...

Sorry, Austin Considine, once a governor, always the title of governor.

Just ask Mike Huckabee and every other former governor.

What an IDIOT.

Even brevet officers (acting jacks) are entitled to be called by their highest rank, even if they no longer hold it.

EG, “General Custer” was a Lt. Colonel.

Ol’ Eddie says the Republicans are standing in the way. He wants bi-partisanship. The new bi-partisanship should be when the Repubs say “We want this (XXXX), you agree totally or you are partisan.”

The title, after one has left the office of President, Governor, etc., becomes a honorific.

It has always been correct to refer to former (and sitting, for that matter) Presidents in that way.

It always galled me to hear Pres. Bush referred simply as 'Mr." - the fact that they're now doing it to Pres. Obama bothers me just as much (no matter how I feel about his performance in office thus far.

Most people see reality and then there are the liberals who love to hate Governor Palin.
Lt us take a break from the hate fest and take a walk in reality.
Sara Palin suffered sequential bogus attacks from a couple liberals who wanted to sue her for being “Sahara Palin.”
They sued and caused the Governor to accumulate a great deal of debt. Every single one of the many frivolous attempts at litigation have been dismissed and tossed out of court for lack of merit. Her response was to resign from her office and find other income so that she could pay the unwarranted debts forced on her by liberals.
Now here is where it gets interesting, so liberals need to pay close attention.
She left a Republican as Governor of Alaska who will run in the next election as the favored incumbent.
She had a best seller book that drove a huge book tour, made her a very wealthy woman, and strengthened her already great popularity. Her book also made her a very wealthy lady. If it hadn't been for the hateful liberals she would not of had so much to write about. Next she landed a extremely well paying job on the biggest cable network in the world. She now has the ability for much more exposure that will only enhance her ability for election higher public office.
To put it in a little different context, she took the liberals and snubbed them up, saddled then, mounted them and spurred them all the way to the bank. They are still standing tied to the hitching rail out front, still mumbling around the bit that old Sahara is sooo stupid.

So liberals, can you tell me one more time who is stupid and who smells like horse shit???

not me... i refer to him as "ol' zippah head" (with my thickest boston accent). either that, or just "loser"

"traitor"... the title given to those that help sell nuclear secrets to our enemies (check the cox report for more)... just seems to formal.
