Palin: Not Romney's turn (but she calls him "a great guy")

GOP 12 notes that Sarah Palin responded last night to the question of whether it's "Mitt Romney's turn to be the next Republican nominee for President."

"Well, I don't think it's anybody's turn ever. We've got to really, really work hard to build up that trust in the people for the people to elect you in a primary and general," she said, going on to call Romney "a great guy."

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA! Ouch. And she’s right. Earn it, not owed it.

LOL, I’m sure the Palin haters will jump all over that innocent little statement.

Maybe she should have said “swell fella”.

So, you expected her to break Reagan’s 11th commandment and publicly call him a sleazebag?

Paul loses again.

Count on Politico to try to spin a perfectly reasonable comment into a controversy.

Romney lost my vote when he stated that he was most proud of RomneyCare.

No Thanks.

Heck, he may be a ‘great guy’ in person- politics aside. I doubt he runs around on his wife, I bet he is a good father, he probably cooks up a mean BBQ... Maybe he should devote his entire career to that instead of politics. :->

Politico didn’t append the title with “(but she calls him “a great guy”)” to try to drive up controversy.

She’s right, you hvae to earn it, although the Republicans do tend to nominate the next person in line. That’s how McCain got it.

She’s being prudent by not attackign Romney. Assuming that they both run in 2012, I’m sure that she’ll have plenty to say about him. But she’s not going to go after him. If he’s nominated, Republicans will have to unify aroud him.

I bet Romney and Huckabee are both great guys to watch a football game with, or enjoy their company at a backyard barbecue, or such, but I don’t want either one of them as President or VP.

Huck’s band played at the 2000 FReeper inaugural ball. Still doesn’t mean most of us want him as Prez. Stick to music and cooking squirrels.

We ran Bob Dole against clinton in 1996 because it was his turn. McCain probably got the nod in 2008 because primary voters in Iowa and some of the other early states decided it was his turn. The GOP nomination for president should no longer be some kind of lifetime achievement consolation prize.

Count on Politico to try to spin a perfectly reasonable comment into a controversy.

"If it bleeds, it leads."

Or as most of our media editors would say today...."If it can be made to bleed, it leads."

Exactly. He is more than welcome to party with us as we celebrate taking back the Congress and as we celebrate in 2012 that we have taken back the White House. But we want him partying with us as we celebrate a good conservative leader winning the office.

I figure Romney has a lot of work and explaining to do should he run again considering the state of healthcare in MA.
