Bolton Calls out Obummer on Terroism - Wake Up
New York Daily News ^ | January 27, 2010 | John Bolton

Bam, wake up and smell the war Wednesday, January 27th 2010, 4:00 AM

The evidence is mounting that President Obama is following not merely an erroneous anti-terrorism strategy, but one that is increasingly incoherent and incompetent. Two recent developments highlight his failure:

First, senior administration intelligence and homeland security officials testified to Congress that they were not aware in advance that the Christmas Day terrorist, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, would be read Miranda rights, arrested and charged with crimes. Stunningly, it appears that these decisions were essentially made wholly inside the Justice Department.

Second, the administration has conceded that some 50 terrorists held at Guantanamo Bay could neither be safely released nor tried and would therefore be held indefinitely. This flatly contradicts repeated Obama promises to close Gitmo. It also undercuts the rationale for Obama's planned civilian trials for other terrorists and previous decisions - including some by the Bush administration - to release far too many who simply reverted to terrorism.

Obama has strained mightily to move away from former President George W. Bush's "global war on terror," changing many of its underlying policies and even sidelining the phrase "war on terror." That Obama has not fully succeeded in reversing Bush's policies is not for lack of trying, but only because global realities have made it impossible for even someone so determined to succeed in just one year.

In an elegant piece, Ambassador Bolton encapsulates the fallacy of Obama's attempts to provide rights to terroists. In the end he pulls his punches..saying we need a public debate (presumably because Obama controls this issue and won't put up with a debate). While Congress attempts to use appropriations and other indirect efforts to contain the damage, people lose sight of the Administration's real agenda here: to assist terrorists in succeding in their efforts to win and kill Americans. The time left "for debate" is growing short. An attack will succeed soon and the Administration has already more than set the stage for their mea culpa..."we can't stop everything & everybody", "just like crime, we have to accept it", "we have move on", etc. etc...

My Dad, one of the last of the Bataan Death March survivors, died just a while ago (9 months before the election). While I appreciate the sentiment, I am increasingly getting irked when my wife says (trying to help) almost every day, I am so glad your Dad isn't here to have to see this. I am more than irked... I am PO'd,

When we get hit again, whether it’s another building or a suicide bomber in a mall or schoolyard, there will be no shortage of prior warnings.

Bolton is the man! The next Republican President needs to appoint him Sec. of State or let him head all Homeland security. This man is a true patriot and has the cajones to put a scare in the Terrorists and Radical Iranians.

I have a cabin in WV protected in a mountain gap , outside a good blast radius from the mall where I work, ...

One of the times we do get hit, it will be an inside job.

The only way people here will survive is to mirror the POTUS travel schedule. When he leaves town, you have to leave town. The ultimate “suitcase” crises that pretty much settles things, eliminates the opposition, and keeps him permanently on top. That is the meaning of “successful one-term President”.
