Northwestern University police are investigating a report of a man with a gun in one of the buildings on its Chicago campus, according to the police Web Site.
The report came at about 10 a.m. Someone reported to police that a man with a gun in his waistband was seen in an elevator on the 11th floor of the Rubloff building, 375 E. Chicago Ave., according to the site.
As of 11:20 a.m., there were no reports of injuries.
The suspect was described as a white man with sandy brown hair, 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9, wearing a black canvas quilted three-quarter length jacket, blue jeans and a black button-down shirt. He was clean shaven.
Police are advising people in the building to stay in their offices and lock their doors. Chicago and Northwestern police are searching the building.
