In an extraordinary phone call, a 3-year-old saved a life in Maple Shade, New Jersey. . . . Within minutes, police & paramedics arrived at the Maple Shade home where the little boy unlocked the door and then let them in. However, Jaden was wise enough to lock the dog in the bedroom so he wouldn't get in the way.

Smart three year old. Praise God!
Wow!
This could be the ONLY good reason for kids to watch too much TV. LOL
Sad but true. What a smart little boy and he put the doggy away to keep him out of the way. 3 years old!?!? Amazing.
Still, a very poised performance by the three year old.
Yes and I believe it also points to parents who have taken time to not only delight in such a precious package, but have invested much love and attention too.
I disagree - I believe the boy locked up the dog on his own. 911 operators are notorious for demanding that caller stay on the line at all times until emergency response personnel arrive, and I imagine that with a three year old this would go double. The kid probably saw the dog running around after he gave his information, and so he just dropped the phone and locked up the dog.
BUMP.
OMG, that baby is a certified GENIUS!
I sure hope you’re right, because they sure don’t look the type. I love the tattoo on the dad’s throat.
I'm sure he has higher aspirations than a make work government job and public housing.
When my mother had a stroke in 2008, I called 911 for an ambulance. After giving them all the relevant information, they asked if there were any dogs in the house. After I told them that there were, they asked me to shut them up in a bedroom before the EMS personnel arrived. I believe this is atandard practice.
Whether this was done in this case, I can't say for sure, but I'm doubtful that the boy would have thought of this on his own.
Perhaps, though you’d think the article wouldn’t have given him credit for thinking of it if it happened that way. The writer apparently had access to the 911 tape and police reports. Maybe you’re right, though I have a feeling such standard procedures may go out the window when the caller is a 3 year old, unless the operator heard a dog barking in the background.
Perhaps the parents were as diligent about teaching the boy to close the dog in another room before opening the front door, as they were about teaching him how to call 911. If they don't have a fenced yard, he may have seen his parents do this every time someone is expected to arrive at the door, or actually has arrived. In that case, he might well have thought to close the dog in another room, without prompting from the operator. I agree that it's very unlikely he had the idea completely on his own, without either prior training or prompting from the 911 operator.
My limited experience with reporters leads me to believe that
A) most of them have an IQ somewhere around room temperature levels, and
B) they will never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
But, anything's possible, I suppose.
