Germans make great Americans. There are tons of pockets of historic German immigrant settlements, PA, upstate NY, in the South and out West too. Lots of people there can speak both German and English.

If I remember this case correctly, German officials removed the oldest daughter from the family and sent her to a foster home on the grounds that she must be crazy for not wanting to go intto the public school system. The girl ran away from the foster home and rejoined her family, who fled the country.

This family has been persecuted for years. It is inspiring that they continued to stand up for their beliefs and terrific that they are finally safe.

I’m very interested in reading comments from Germans over this decision. Was only able to find one article in german but it doesn’t allow comments. There is either a media blackout on the story over there or it’s just too soon to find anything on it yet.

Wow. I have been following this case and have said all along that the family ought to try for political asylum ... and here they did it, and it actually worked! Amazing. Yay for them. I hope Germany recognizes this for the black eye it is.
