I think this move also splits the Arizona Democrats somewhat. Most of the big-name Democrats in the state have their eye on the Governor's race. The current Governor, Jan Brewer is a Republican who became Governor by Default when Napolitano was tapped by Obama as Secretary of Homeland Security. Now, some of those who had Gubernatorial aspirations might decide to go for the Senate seat instead.
