I have to think that you view yourself as beyond these kinds of problems, that you are able to afford, on your own, insurance to cover every possible hospital bill, doctor bill, drug bills, and the costs of insurance to cover any pre-existing conditions you have or may have in the future.

No... I just believe in liberty. That means NO SOCIALIZED MEDICINE. People should not be seeking forced, involuntary hand-outs from the rest of society. It is a form of theft to do so. And when the moochers/thieves use the power of the government to do their thing, it becomes a a form of tyranny.
