Ryan: Dems to use reconciliation (Obamacare)
The Corner ^ | 1/22/10 | Costa

Posted on 01/22/2010 7:13:52 AM PST by pabianice

Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.), the ranking member of the House Budget Committee, tells National Review Online that House Democrats are planning to use the budget-reconciliation process in order to pass Obamacare. “They’re meeting with each other this weekend to pursue it,” says Ryan. “I’ve spoken with many Democrats and the message is this: They’re not ready to give up. They’ve waited their entire adult lives for this moment, and they aren’t ready to let 100,000 pesky votes in Massachusetts get in the way of fulfilling their destiny. They’ll look at every option and spend the next four or five days figuring it out.”

How can they do that when the senate bill and the house bill are two very different bills?

they aren’t ready to let 100,000 pesky votes in Massachusetts get in the way of fulfilling their destiny.

I have a nose for satire and that statement certainly rings of satire.

But I read the whole piece. This ISN'T satire.

These people are just nuts...

They can only do that with the budget parts of the Bill.

The fact is that this was never about 'health care' it was about raising revenue, which Obama needs.

I doubt that any portion of this would get past the House.

I wish that Senator McConnell would come out and say
‘Make our day’! point out to Reid that the Senate will
be shut down till November when the people can have a say in
health care reform.

The Senate Republicans should set the agenda:
1) hearings on job creation failures of the stimulus package
2) hearings on the failures of homeland and white house security

NOTHING ELSE UNTIL JOBS AND HOMELAND SECURITY HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“they have waited their entire adult lives”

That would be about twenty minutes combined for the whole party. These JA’s are the world’s oldest children.

This is good maybe. The farther they climb the arrogance tree, the farther they fall.

They have no clue. Obama will bring in millions of Haitians to get enough votes.

I like Paul Ryan. I don’t like Juan McCain.

IF THEY TRY THIS, WE, WE THE PEOPLE, NEED TO STORM THE CAPITAL AND SHUT IT DOWN!

I’m not joking on this folks, if they attempt this we need to literally show up en masse and take over the chamber.

If they will not respect the ballot box, will we remind them first hand who they work for, and shut the capital down.

I read it all and i think in light of all the statements they’ve made since Brown theres no way they try this. Maybe a handfull of diehards are making noise but this can’t be too widespread.

Yep, our friend budget reconciliation appears again to save Health Reform, better yet lib Senator Tom Harkin is proposing eliminating the Senate filibuster altogether (the Nuke option) Filibuster reform headed for Senate floor; measure faces uphill battle so they can pass the public option and all, YAY, progressive revolution saved!

The more time they waste on these unrealistic options the less time they have to pass anything before the November defeat. The day McCain lost I said Democrats were doomed, but this is even more fun than imagined.

I see the stock market doesn't like Obama's bank reforms. Wasn't the stock market rise his sole claimed accomplishment?

I would not be so at ease. What I’ve seen starting Jan 2007 is that they will do *anything* to create a socialist (aka oligarchy) system in the USA.
