I went to my credit union in Canada and asked for a money order in American funds amount fifty dollars. Normally I scurry away and write the name of the institution on it myself. The charming lady clerk said to me casually, "and to whom is it going?" I said not impolitely, "do I have to"? She said as casually, "yes" and waited for my reply and was ready to fill it in.

"Free Republic" says I clearly. I have it ready to post snail mail. Oh well, if any human rights bureaucrat, reads my heartfelt comments on our own local hero, killed in Afghanistan within the last week, they might give pause. That is supposing the usual monitors watch this thread,now and then. They do check on our Canadian blogs as we know. With little luck in shutting 'em down or scaring them.

It is no secret here, that the folks that REALLY turn my crank are the blog-pimps. They treat this place like their own personal AOL chat room. They post one-sentence excerpts, in an effort to drive hits to their blogs.

When you arrive, in most cases, the first thing you see is their “tip jar”, begging for donations to keep their site in business.

Over 90% of the time, these blogs have NO links to FreeRepublic.

I’ve been unemployed for nearly 15 months. I lost $30,000 in salary. That’s the difference between what I was making before Lord Voldobama was elected and what I get in unemployment. My monthly donation to FR continues without interruption. THAT is how important FR is to us.

I’m not a Freeper insider or moderator. Just a cantankerous old curmudgeon who calls em like he sees em.

I don’t know how anyone could be humiliated by my post since no one knows who donates and who doesn’t.

My little guilt trip rant has already shaken some folks into public awareness of how we all need to pull together on FR (and I hope some anonaymous lurkers also donated)so my job here is done.

Reading thru the responses ... remember back during the Clinton era when FR was relatively new ... the quarterly campaign fund solicitations were wrapped up in a couple of weeks. The campaign goal was always modest and still is ... years later. Today we have BHO as our president, the most dangerous individual to our liberty to ever occupy the oval office ... and it takes, most quarters, well over a month to meet the basic revenue goals FR needs to sustain itself. Open your wallets FReepers, this isn't a free ride ... we need this forum to be successful & ongoing.
