All of the money and goods contributed to Haiti has been stolen by its “leaders”. It’s gone on for decades. Hollywoods favorite thug dictator, Castro, has become a billionaire by sucking up aid money.

We must take over Haiti and provide some Law and Order and break the power of the Gangs. The place used to grow enough food for herself—she can again without corruption and poor government. We really have no choice—to not do so will only postpone the problems for the next hurricane, revolt or food riots. They need a good dictator who thinks a bit about his nation and doesn’t just milk it for UN loans for a Paris Apartment. Bring in the Mafia to run things. The place could be a garden spot if it were not for corruption that keeps the nation locked into poverty and crime.

The hearts and prayers of Americans always go out to those who suffer catastrophic events. Haiti is but the most recent example. American people and treasure are already flowing into that sad place, made sadder still by this earthquake.

Of course, as Barack Obama spent his first year in office reminding the entire world, America is just like all the other nations out there and we are a most “unremarkable” people.

I’d remind him that the wealth which we are now about to pour into Haiti is the result of the superior and productive political and economic system left us by some wise and far-sighted men over 240 years ago. How sad that Obama is well on the way to destroying it.

The persistent poverty in places like Haiti is a product of the inferior systems the people of far too many of those nations continue to tolerate. I don’t know much about the human beings at the top of the current Haitian food chain but situations of this sort have, in the past, caused a huge surge in the quantity of numbered accounts in Swiss banks. I hope that doesn’t happen in this situation. If it should, I hope the decent members of the Haitian population conduct public hangings of those involved.

As one commentator recently remarked, Haiti could easily join the other wealthy tourist spots in the Caribbean were it not for their unfortunate inability to move out of the 18th century.

If any good can come from this disaster, perhaps it will be that they will reexamine their social and economic “model” and rebuild their homeland in ways that will permit ALL of their citizens to participate and prosper.

Haiti: Where will all the money go?

Down a great big hole. Like always. Like most of all the ‘aid’ we send to most countries but in particular to these 3rd world hellholes.

The DR is wealthy compared to Haiti — youcan’t even believe that it’s the same small island.
I have photographs of the Haitians who come in mighty numbers in painted vans to BUY SUGAR and flour in the DR —

Just saw an article this morning saying Aristide was ready to hop on a plan and return to help in the rebuilding.

I’ll bet he is. He probably has needed a wet vac to control the drool over the thought of the billions heading to Haiti.

I agree but they are not the only organization that can handle this. How about the Salvation Army with US personnel as advisors? Not controllers, but advisors. The military we are sending over there could police the country and the Salvation Army could help with aiding the people and help them rebuild. I would not use the Red Cross. Again, much of the money would disappear.

“Haiti: Where will all the money go?”

Perhaps the correct question is, where will the Haitians go?

According to this Fox article, if the USA doesn’t send more money, they’ll come here.

How many Haitian Refugees will land in the USA?

U.S. Preparing for Potential New Wave of Haitians Fleeing North
Fox News
Haitians have been trying to come to the United States by boat for more than three decades, and U.S. officials are preparing for a potential new refugee crisis after this week’s devastating earthquake.

WASHINGTON — The Department of Homeland Security is “formulating” plans in case Haitians try to flee their earthquake-ravaged country for the United States, federal officials told FOX News.

For more than three decades, Haitians have been trying to come to the United States by boat, whether driven by poverty or political strife. As of Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Coast Guard had not encountered anyone in the waters off Haiti trying to reach the U.S. mainland, according to one official, but top U.S. officials have been engaged in “continuing discussions” in case things change, sources say.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and other top department officials have been conferring with the heads of the U.S. Coast Guard, Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services about “our capabilities in the region,” one source said.

One Homeland Security official described the “continuing discussions” within the department as “a process to figure out what the posture’s going to be” if Haitians try to flee what was already considered one of the poorest countries in the world.

In the end, the “senior leadership” at Homeland Security, in consultation with the Defense Department and Justice Department, will make the final decision, the official said.

Last night CBS stated that there are 850,000 Haitians living in the USA now. I’m sure every one of them would like to bring in all their relatives. Every time there is a storm in that area, we take in ‘temporary’ refugees, they never leave.

Not to mention, Obama is already an advocate of greater Haitian immigration. This will be all the excuse he needs.

http://www.stoptheaclu.com/2008/07/29/obama-wants-more-haitians-in-america/

“He also said there should be greater equity across the board for immigrants as well, pointing out that “it’s much harder for Haitians to immigrate, despite similar circumstances in need” as other groups that have been admitted legally.”

“Haitians living abroad, ..... Most of that diaspora is concentrated in the United States, totaling 850,000 to 1 million people.”

Oct. 2008
“Two weeks ago, the Bush administration announced it would extend temporary protected status to an estimated 300,000 Honduran, Nicaraguan and Salvadoran nationals who have been allowed to stay for years after natural disasters struck their countries.

It was granted to Hondurans and Nicaraguans after Hurricane Mitch hit in 1998 and to Salvadorans after a series of earthquakes in 2001.

While immigrant advocates argue it’s unfair to deny Haiti the same benefit afforded those countries, opponents say the fact that the immigrants from those other places are still in the US is proof the system doesn’t work.

“If Bush had ended the TPS for the Central American countries, then we would be in favour of TPS for Haitians,” said Roy Beck, president of NumbersUSA, which advocates reduced immigration. “The reason we don’t is that there’s no ‘T’ in TPS.”

The public has little opportunity to be sure that aid to the government is used honestly and well. Nor is following the money easy for donors, ...

This statement applies to the USA, especially for health care legislation, stimulus monies, and other current backroom deals, not to mention junk science and passing legislation without even reading the thousands of pages!

Democrats want our country to be like Haiti.
