Everything’s staged: Michelle Obama’s garden food was fake

They stage their health care town halls.

They hand out lab coats to make their doctor donors look authentic.

They treat soldiers as “pretty good photo ops.”

So, this Iron Chef revelation about Michelle Obama’s produce is entirely in keeping with Obama Theater:

"For months, the Food Network ran ads about a forthcoming episode of “Iron Chef America,” its flagship chefs plus secret ingredient versus time competition. The show would take place at the White House garden, with Michelle Obama making a cameo and plugging her responsible-eating initiative. The network promised it would be its biggest episode ever."

"The buildup matched the reality: The Jan. 3 “Iron Chef America” drew 7.6 million viewers, the highest-rated show in network history. In it, superstar chef Mario Batali teamed with Emeril Lagasse, and Bobby Flay with White House chef Cristeta Comerford to cook five dishes using the secret ingredient: produce from the White House garden."

"Except for one thing: As first reported on AOL’s Politics Daily blog, the fruits and vegetables used on the show weren’t from the White House. They were stunt produce. Ringers."

"At the beginning of the two-hour special, the chefs were shown picking sweet potatoes, broccoli, fennel and tomatillos from the White House garden. Then the chefs were seen walking into Kitchen Stadium, produce in hand. One problem: The show is filmed in New York City."

This headline makes it sound as though the garden inself is fake...I understand the logistics. And I do not understand why there is a problem. Makes sense to me..and I do understand the truth in advertising etc..but much ado about nothing methinks.I watched the show. Was a good one and enjoyed it.

I’m shocked! Although I am curious to see if the chefs will get any of the fallout for this. Obviously they knew what was going on and went along with it.

Being an Iron Chef/Food Network afficiando, I watched this show as I thought...well it was cool.

When I heard all the vegies allegedly from the White House garden that would be used my thoughts were many. First thing I thought no way Michelle ma Belle grew all that stuff herself but hey, I wouldn’t expect Laura Bush would have been out growing turnips in the Washington heat either. Except Laura Bush probably wouldn’t be lying/deceiving about it either.

Then I thought, damn that’s odd. How the hell, this being in December of the year, that they have vegies from the garden. I wondered how the hell they kept them fresh and crisp as December is long beyond garden vegie time even in D.C.

But they did, yes they did, they hyped it as vegies coming out of the WH garden. They showed turnips with leafy tops, sweet potatoes, all kinds of vegies and I thought damn, Michelle must of had some slaves out there growing all this produce.

Heh.

As far as we know, the chefs were filmed picking in the garden for effect, and when the time came for taping, a couple of interns for the show flew down to DC, picked the stuff and drove back. It’s a four-hour drive.

A friend’s mom who watched that episode said it was told during the show that the veggies being used were not from the White House garden.

Did they get to buzz New York City in Air Farce One before the show?

There is absolutely NOTHING about the Obama’s that is real... they are disgusting frauds all the way to the bone.

This was a decision made by food network. Not the whitehouse.

As I said, I have no problem with whether the vegetables and herbs came from the whitehouse. This was a call made by production for foodtvnetwork. Not the whitehouse. Thank you for the information.

Well, duh? Seriously, did these people really think we would be believe you can plant a garden and 45 days later have a full harvest of everything you planted from seed.

Wondering how much of Food Network is as fake as M’s garden vegetables. Remember seeing whats-her-name making an entire Thanksgiving dinner in 30 minutes and promising the viewers could, too. We’re all living in a bogus world.

I watched the show. Was a good one and enjoyed it.

Good for you, but the moment I saw Ester's mug I demanded that my wife turn the channel.

The Food Channel has gone down many notches in my book.

Sketchy personal histories, sealed college records, ... A fake vegetable garden is “small potatoes” to the Obamas. Junk science, empty promises, ghost-written autobiographies, false pretenses. Who would or could believe a single thing the Obamas say?

Without a teleprompter, there's nothing “real” there except his shadowy handlers.

No matter what veggies were used in the show, MO is still an angry marxist.
