Harry Reid Gets Dealt the Race Card
David Horowitz's NewsRealblog ^ | Peter Collier

Posted on 01/11/2010 3:03:21 AM PST by Michael van der Galien

Harry Reid is the shame of the Senate. And it hard not to bathe in schadenfreude at the hammering he is now getting over an interview he gave to John Heilemann and Mark Haperin during 2008 for their new book Game Change in which he enthused that Barack Obama was electable because he was “light skinned” and “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” But it is also hard not to be disgusted by the politically correct sanctimony of Republicans like the RNC’s Michael Steele who are acting as if they just caught the Nevada senator in a Klan costume.

“Negro” is the new n-word now? And is it not true that Obama’s light skin color and the half-white background that produced it was indeed an electoral asset? And didn’t the ability to talk like a brother as well as a Harvard grad sharpen the President’s ineffable hipness and post-racial appeal? Can the lexicon of the politically taboo have become such a fat book as this?

Instead of standing back with folded arms and watch the Democrats wallow in the squalor they created by forcing Reid to grovel for redemption from Al Sharpton, Julian Bond, the execrable Cong. Barbara Lee, and other race hustlers, Steele has demanded a leading role in this nasty spectacle. He says that the situation Reid created is similar to the one in 2002 when Republican Majority Leader Trent Lott was forced out of his leadership position for praising Strom Thurmond. Right. No doubt about it. But it was also the Republicans, cowering under the Democrats ludicrous charges of “racism,” who caved and forced Lott out.

The problem is that Democrats tolerate and accept alleged and actual racism when it comes from other Democrats. Perhaps it is time that conservatives closed ranks among our own when we are falsly accused of racism.

Steele quite frankly needs to be dumped as chairman. I know who the base in my state will side with on this one and it sure as hell ain’t Micheal Steele.

Why was Steele put in there again?

The second level discourse that is not happening here is that Reid's comments cement to notion that Obama has the job he has simply because the democrats wanted a "Negro" candidate

That's the real Racism and it has nothing to do with misspeaking or being taken "out of context"

The racism is in the implication that the democrats didn't want a dark skinned person WITH a "negro" dialect.

By rights, that should set off a firestorm in the black community, but Reid will get away with it as he does everything else.

The message should be that "Reid doesn't care for those with dark skin and "negro" dialects."...he thinks they are unacceptable and unelectable.

I am watching and enjoying the show, but in reality what Harry Reid said is fact.

Obama pulls the shuck and jive when he wants to.

Blacks are way too sensitive to every word coming out of the mouth of a Republican, while they allow worse from Democrats. I still remember the Macaca controversy that ruined George Allen.

That Macaca incident was Bullsh*t just like this is Bullsh*t, but why shouldnt the finger pointing be aimed at Reid, when Reid has not been careful where he points his finger at others.

If you cant stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

***”Reid did it, it was wrong, he apologized immediately, the president has accepted the apologize, time to move on.”***

“apologized immediately”? The comments were from 2008 campaign.

It Has nothing to do with what any Democrat has to say about Blacks ,they can call them all the N word in Times Square On New Years Eve with Millions watching and the Only Care the Democrats would have is How the Person Voted On Gay Marraige, Health Care, Illegal immigration, and Welfare for all the Poverty pimps, that is what really matters not the Racism in the DEMOCRAT party that has kept the Blacks on the Plantation since the 60s and destroyed their Families. The saddest part is that they continue to support the Very people who have done it to them to the tune of over 90 percent in every election

The “leaders” of the party thought it would apear better to have a black guy at the top to counter the “magic nigro”.
In other words Steele was an affirmative action quota boy,
About the same as obammy.

Same motivation for the people who tout Jindal as a presidential candidate. And Jindal is perhaps the most uncharismatic politician to ever get elected to anything in that state.

You know, we’re not supposed to be the affirmative action. If anything, Steele should be out on the frontlines like Clarence Thomas speaking out against it.

He needs to be dumped as chairman. I wouldn’t mind having Riley in there.

Steele needs to hush, his comment that Reid can either resign or I will get rid of him in November. ‘I will’, Steele, it is all about him.

Amen. I'm glad somebody is addressing this insanity. This whole incident shows how fricken PC and completely controlled the country has become about race particularly the GOP. Race, racism, racist et al has become the new Witchcraft but only for whites. We should burn all white 'racist' at the stake. Good grief. In spite of what a POS Harry Reid is all of this crap is just that crap. The GOP is so pussified and desperate to have the 'finger of shame' pointed in another direction they will accept all kinds of racial BS. Even the destruction of us and this country just don't call me 'racist'. I am reminded of the whole Boxer/Alford incident that had most in the GOP dancing with delight. Boxer the 'racist' was called out in spite of the fact that Harry Alford is the head of the BLACK Chamber of Commerce(George Orwell anyone?) Meanwhile the Black Caucus, the NAACP and all the other race groups are laughing their asses off at stupid whites.

The whole point of making a big deal out of Reid's remarks is the fact that they were indeed racist in nature and 2:)if a Republican had uttered them their would be non-stop media bashing until the Republican resigned. The remarks are racist in nature because they imply that dark skinned blacks with a negro dialect are two "Black" to be elected. This means that Reid, and the demrat party, think that WE, the electorate of the US, are too damn racist to elect a black unless he is light skinned and talks without an accent.

No matter what context he said them in they were racist remarks.

I wouldn't care about that except for the fact that every dimwit politician, and some Republican a**kissers, is giving him cover and the media can't try to shut up the incident fast enough and if the letter behind his name was (R) instead of (D) he would be roasted non-stop day and night.
