What if it's Beck with a tax 'accident'?
Politco ^ | January 8, 2010 | KENNETH P. VOGEL

Posted on 01/08/2010 4:07:03 PM PST by yongin

No one has been less forgiving than Glenn Beck when it comes to Democrats with tax problems. Not just the well-known ones like Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner but also less serious ones such as Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, whose husband only recently paid off $6,400 in tax liens on his auto repair business, and Nancy Killefer, who withdrew her nomination to be White House chief performance officer, citing a $946.69 tax lien on her Washington home.

Their tax issues are just one indicator of “a culture of corruption among some of the left,” Beck declared just last month in a segment on his hugely popular Fox News television show, in which he branded Geithner, Killefer, Solis and a handful of other Obama nominees “tax cheats,” whom he wouldn’t trust “with my children, let alone my children's future.”

Mocking the excuses offered by the nominees, Beck sarcastically intoned: “Oh, the tax thing, it was an accident. It was my husband's fault. I didn't do it, he did it. I didn't mean to do it. I was just working hard for the people.”

So what to make, then, of the fact that Beck has had his own minor tax problems over the past few years?

As Beck evolved from a medium-market local radio personality to a one-man media empire with top-rated radio and television shows, best-selling books, a monthly magazine and a traveling one-man comedy tour, his production company, Mercury Radio Arts, has at times struggled to keep up with the heightened tax and filing demands accompanying his success.

This must be the reason Beck slammed the Birthers.

I’ve had tax issues. It depends on what you consider a tax accident. Accident like you forgot some rental property? You hid some income? You lied about something? Or accident like your employer didn’t withhold the right amount?

Its almost a cliche, for the government to send the IRS after its political enemies. Before you take on the government, you’d better have your tax man go back through your taxes for the last several years. Overpay if you have to. Don’t give them anything easy to use against you.

He would be one of God knows how many millions who have had “tax problems” over the years. I know several people who have had incorrect filings for some reason or another.

Beck is entertainment and the others are in government.
Those in government are answerable to the people.
Beck is answerable to his audience and sponsors.

Does Kenneth Vogel make a distinction between Obama Admin officials, some of whom are now in the Socialist’s Cabinet, and a radio/TV talk show host??? Does Glenn Beck have a position that can take any control over citizens of our country??? This Administration and their willing accomplices in Big Media are a complete embarrassment. What a bunch of whiners/losers/tax cheaters/ and traitors.

“Democratic opposition researcher” says it all. Glenn and his company have had astronomical changes with his success, and I can see how it might be hard to keep up with. But HE has not been named to a govt position, unlike those he’s criticized.

As far as I am concerned, as long as we have the IRS and out of control federal spending, we all have tax problems.

Last time I checked Beck wasn’t being proposed for a job in the government or running for public office.....

Beck doesn’t work for the government. That’s the difference.
