45% Say Random Group From Phone Book Better Than Current Congress
Rasmussen ^ | January 7, 2009

More voters have greater confidence in the telephone book these days than in the current Congress, and most think their national legislators are paid too much to boot.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 45% of likely U.S. voters now think a group of people selected at random from the phone book would do a better job addressing the nation’s problems than the current Congress. That’s up 12 points from October 2008, just before the last congressional elections. Thirty-six percent (36%) disagree, and another 19% are not sure.

Is this an option? I’m for it.
Fire the whole lot of them, call up 535 random people, qualify them, (unlike BHO), and put them in.

We need “regular” Americans as representatives. Only the rich get in now. There has to be a better way. Term limits would be a great start.

William Buckley suggested this years ago, at least for Senators, and it sounds fine to me.

Agreed! But not only term limits, we need some sort of campaign finance reform (sound familiar?) to financially permit people to run for public office. These millionaires can gallavant around the district or state with protective details and limos while using their own millions to finance it with the hope of more money once they're in office.

I would personally love to run for public office. I'm working on a Master's degree in English (the overwhelming majority of Dems are lawyers, so you know I'm safe), and I'm as red-blooded as they come. The costs to run a campaign, however, are quite prohibitive, so I'll take my cubicle-dwelling lifestyle for a bit longer.

Ha.... there is likely more integrity, patriotism, honor, statesmanship, and likability housed within the walls of many of our prisons.. where every single one of those traitors should be spending the rest of their lives.

Real, honest, everyday folks, patriots, dedicated, constitution believing, country loving folks need to be in the leadership... NOT organized criminals that are traitors to this country.

Even local elections are cost-prohibitive for most people. It’s a shame because of lot of otherwise well-qualified people will never get the chance.

The ONLY way by which this nation will be saved before the Soros/Obama Axis completes its plan of destruction is to run ALL the Obama Democrats and RINOs OUT OF MALFUNCTION JUNCTION.

HERE’S ANOTHER RINO WHO NEEDS TO GO IN 2010: BOB INGLIS, SC 4TH!

READY TO CLEAN HOUSE IN 2010?

CHRISTINA JEFFERY (http://christinajeffrey.com/index2.html) is running for Congress from the SOUTH CAROLINA 4th against 5TERM INCUMBENT (that’s 10 YEARS!) BOB INGLIS (http://www.gradegov.com/representative.php?id=190&name=representative_bob_inglis).

Bob FLUNKS with a D MINUS per GRADEGOV.COM.

I can assure you that Christina will be an A+ out of the gate — and will stay that way until this mess is cleaned up.

But, say you, I don’t LIVE in Christina’s district. You probably don’t live in the district allegedly “represented” by Her Imperial Lowness QUEEN Nancy Pelosi, or Maxine Waters, or Henry Waxman, or (until November anyway) Harry Reid’s Nevada. Don’t think THEIR activities impact you? Think again.

All these folks vote on issues affecting us all so even if you live elsewhere, send CHRISTINA as many bucks as you can and spread the word among your family and friends.

Visit Christina’s site and click on the “CONTRIBUTE” box and send her what you can. We can pay now – or KEEP paying later with not only our funds but the rest of our shrinking liberties – or worse.

LET’S CLEAN HOUSE IN 2010!

Yep! Cost is the only factor for me. I could deal with the headaches and the bitching, and, like Washington, I would go to do my job and hang it up after a few terms. I don't need power and neither should Congress.

I’ve long advocated a national lottery for congress. Every taxPAYER gets one set of numbers. Numbers would be drawn the same way regular lotteries are done until we have enough to fill the house, senate and presidency. It couldn’t be any worse than what we have now.

Good idea. We already do it for jury duty, why not for Congress too? Since 40% of Americans are conservative, we would have a sound government all the time!
