From the Investigative Project on Terrorism:
Previously on the IPT blog we stressed the need for the Defense Department's Islamic Chaplaincy program to adopt a stricter vetting process, citing historically radical imams who have served in the program. Now the same can be said for the chaplaincy program for the Illinois State Police. The Mosque Foundation website reports that Sheikh Kifah Mustapha recently completed a four day training session in Springfield, Illinois to become the first certified Muslim chaplain for the Illinois State Police.
Mustapha's name appears on a list of unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) Hamas financing trail, which ended with sweeping convictions in November of 2008. On this list he is identified as a member of the Muslim Brotherhood's Palestine Committee. According to the indictment in the HLF trial, the "Muslim Brotherhood is an international Islamic fundamentalist organization" that is "committed to the globalization of Islam through social engineering and violent jihad." It created the Palestine Committee with a "designed purpose to support HAMAS" politically and financially.
During the deposition Mustapha also described himself as a former member of a volunteer committee for the IAP beginning in the early 1990s. As a volunteer, he "distributed flyers" and helped prepare for "festivals or conventions." Those meetings often featured incendiary rhetoric and skits portraying Hamas violence against Israelis. Additionally Mustapha said that he donated money to HLF and "maybe" IAP.
For the uninitiated, eight of the executives for the Holy Land Foundation were convicted in November 2008 on all 108 counts for fundraising for the terrorist group Hamas. Read the whole thing.
For instance running one name radom, #30 on the list, Jamal Said pulls up :
"Mosque with member being tried for terrorism donates garden to Chicago during trial- Mayor Daley cuts ribbon with Hamas members Hamas members Oussama Jamal and Jamal Said join in ribbon cutting at terror park dedication with mayor and city officials"
November 26, 2006
MIM: "In what seems more a bribe then donation Chicagos Mayor Daley cut the ribbon to a park 'funded' by the Bridgeview Mosque Foundation at the same time that Mohammed Salah, one of their prominent members is on trial for terrorism and membership in Hamas."
Moostapha? wasn’t that the ‘bad guy’ lion in “Lion King?”
Not that I was going to anyway but I’m never going to Illinois.
The guy that did it is fourth from the left. My bad, I thought it was a lineup. On second thought I was right in the first place.
“...but Im never going to Illinois.”
Me too. Not under any circumstances. Or to Michigan for that matter.

“Illinois Police: Terror Ties Cost Imam Chaplain Post”

SNIPPET: “Court papers filed in an Illinois federal civil lawsuit make it clear that a Hamas-supporting imam would have been a state police-sanctioned chaplain in 2010 if not for disclosures made by the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT).
Attorneys for the Illinois State Police (ISP) have asked a federal judge to grant their clients’ motion for summary judgment, effectively ending a lawsuit brought by Imam Kifah Mustapha. Mustapha cleared an initial background check to the ISP’s first Muslim chaplain in late 2009.
In his application, he failed to disclose his work as fundraiser for the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development. The foundation was convicted a year earlier of illegally routing millions of dollars to Hamas. The IPT reported on Mustapha’s documented connections to the Holy Land Foundation in January 2010, after he received a state identification card.
The ISP received an e-mail alerting it to the IPT report a day later, a legal memorandum filed with the motion Thursday said. The state police “were previously unaware of Plaintiff’s association with HLF, as it was omitted from his resume,” the memo said. A second background check resulted in Mustapha’s invitation to be a chaplain rescinded. He sued, claiming violations of his 1st and 14th Amendment rights.”
