Freed Guantánamo inmates are heading for Yemen to join al-Qaeda fight

At least a dozen former Guantánamo Bay inmates have rejoined al-Qaeda to fight in Yemen, The Times has learnt, amid growing concern over the ability of the country’s Government to accept almost 100 more former inmates from the detention centre.

The Obama Administration promised to close the Guantánamo facility by January 22, a deadline that it will be unable to meet. The 91 Yemeni prisoners in Guantánamo make up the largest national contingent among the 198 being held.

Six prisoners were returned to Yemen last month. After the Christmas Day bomb plot in Detroit, US officials are increasingly concerned that the country is becoming a hot-bed of terrorism. Eleven of the former inmates known to have rejoined al-Qaeda in Yemen were born in Saudi Arabia. The organisation merged its Saudi and Yemeni offshoots last year.

The country’s mountainous terrain, poverty and lawless tribal society make it, in the opinion of many analysts, a close match for Afghanistan as a new terrorist haven.

Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, voiced concern about the growing strength of al-Qaeda in Yemen. “Obviously, we see global implications from the war in Yemen and the ongoing efforts by al-Qaeda in Yemen to use it as a base for terrorist attacks far beyond the region,” she said.

Obama says they need the manpower. No debating. The Gitmo Alumni must be there mentoring their (my) brothers. This is a teachable moment and wee wee wee’d better pay attention!

That’s all we need... more risk to our men

We have the stupid asses running our government. These vermin should have been “disappeared” years ago.

Maybe we'll take this seriously when we lose a city or two to nuclear weapons?

Naw. At this point, I don't think even that would change our attitudes.

These “things” should be long dead. We should have picked them up on the battlefield and shot them on the spot. Dead. That should be our policy and it should be public.

We've treated these “things” like friggin royalty. Catered to their every demand. I don't believe we reaped any actionable intelligence from them.

Terrorists should know that captured terrorists will be water boarded for information, tried by our military, found guilty, and shot.

I don't think they'll actually do that. They use the threat to keep us off balance, but I believe that their real intent is to swamp us.

"US officials are increasingly concerned that the country is becoming a hot-bed of terrorism"

With Pakistan becoming more hostile to terrorists inside its borders, terrorists are fleeing to Yemen, which has become a sanctuary. Yemen so far has fooled the United States with its lip service. It harbors a hatred for us that has been stirred up by islamo-fascists.

These terrorists have a good formula for gaining access to a country. All they do is formant hatred by playing on ignorance and religious fears to develop a delusion about the "great Satan." It is notable that Islam is very susceptible to this type disinformation. It is very effective because it buys these groups entry into a country which, like parasites, they use as a host for their criminal activities.

To win the war with these cockroaches, one needs to treat them like any insect. Invent a strategy that like a poison, is carried back to their nests where they poison all those they have contact with.

I really don’t see a problem releasing them. As long as we send them back with an embedded tracking device. Going with the birds of a feather flock together scenario, their terrorist buddies might get a real bang out them at some point.

Sent to me by e-mail. Thought I would share it.

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a
teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference,
would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on
his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to
take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of
GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you
have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special
Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive
and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a
thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod
containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this
embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia ,
would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference
to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off
as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of
advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income
taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to
refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it
was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he
tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word “advice” would
you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as
proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to
go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a
hypocrite?

If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force
One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in
downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered
whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood
victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless
than in New Orleans , w ould you want it made into a major ongoing
political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who
report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what
is happening in America , would you have approved.

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a
major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do
so, would you have approved?

If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt,
which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year,
would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt
again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about 0bama that makes him
so brilliant and impressive? Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He’s
done all this in 10 months — so you’ll have three years and two months
to come up with an answer.

If we analyze this, our Feckless Leader depends on surrogates for support and funding to achieve his goals just as the oil rich Saudis and others in OPEC, cash rich but power limited European magnates depend on surrogates to enrich their fortunes, i.e. disruptions in trade, shortages, contangos and mayhem.

Obama's surrogates are the above, who through their surrogates control him and through him the country.

Their surrogates are pirates, Al Qa'eda, the Muslim Brotherhood and other disparate groups comprised of cadres of uneducated, underemployed or destitute true believers who are the soldiers who fight a war for the some misguided glory on the cheap for their masters.

A wicked web...

Our developed defenses are expensive, effective and at the same time limited by protocols and out dated rules of warfare as well as a lack of will. Our sensibilities dulled by political correctness, situational ethics, sustainability of mythical Status Quo and any other liberal, regressive notions popularized by the urban, educated elites in our city states, universities and colleges and Ivory Towers far from realities of survival and success, sacrifice and reward and even life and death.

Fools have rushed in.....now what are we to do about it?

Just another rant...
