Arctic freeze and snow wreak havoc across the planet

Arctic freeze and snow wreak havoc across the planet Snowfall in Kufri, India

Arctic air and record snow falls gripped the northern hemisphere today, inflicting hardship and havoc from China, across Russia to Western Europe and over the US plains.

There were few precedents for the global sweep of extreme cold and ice that killed dozens in India, paralysed life in Beijing and threatened the Florida orange crop. Chicagoans sheltered from a potentially killer freeze, Paris endured sunny Siberian cold, Italy dug itself out of snowdrifts and Poland counted at least 13 deaths in record low temperatures of about minus 25C (-13F).

The heaviest snow yesterday hit northeastern Asia, which is suffering its worst winter weather for 60 years. More than 25 centimetres (10in) of snow covered Seoul, the South Korean capital — the heaviest fall since records began in 1937.

In China, Beijing and the nearby port city of Tianjin had the deepest snow since 1951, with falls of up to 8in and temperatures of minus 10C. In the far north of China, the temperature fell to minus 32C. More than two million Beijing and Tianjin pupils were sent home and 1,200 flights were delayed or cancelled at Beijing’s international airport.

The same far-eastern weather system took its toll of Sakhalin, the Russian island off Siberia, which was hit by blizzards and avalanches. Farther west, in northern and eastern India, more than 60 people, mainly homeless, died of exposure. Thousands of schools were closed. In Uttar Pradesh, the state neighbouring Nepal, the authorities spent £1.3 million on blankets and firewood for needy households.

Western Russia suffered a deep freeze as snow swept across the Baltic and north-central Europe, leaving the worst devastation in Poland, where 13 people died, bringing the toll from the cold this winter to 122.

Martha and the Vandellas - Heatwave

Whenever I’m with you
Something inside starts burning
and my heart’s filled with fire

Stop this - it’s got a hold on me
I said this ain’t the way it’s supposed to be

It’s like a heatwave burning in my heart
I can’t keep from crying
Tearing me apart

Whenever he calls my name
Sounds so soft sweet and plain
Right then, right there
I feel this burning pain
This high blood pressure’s got a hold on me
I said this ain’t the way love’s supposed to be

It’s like a heatwave burning in my heart
I can’t keep from crying
Tearing me apart

Whenever I’m with you
Something inside starts burning
And my hearts filled with fire

Something’s got me amazed
Don’t know what to do
My head’s in a haze

It’s like a heatwave burning in my heart
I can’t keep from crying
Tearing me apart

There were “few precedents”, yet the article goes on to list one from 1969, several years before the ideal earth temperature that Goreons are trying to achieve. Not to be confrontational, but how was the ideal temperature determined and why didn’t Darwin allow for evolution of climate.

Moving on, I live in the upper midwest and it’s cold here. It’s always cold in January. No one is whining about it. One shrugs one’s shoulders and goes on about one’s business. However, why aren’t the dupes in England and India making a fuss about the cold and the snow etc? Doesn’t look a whole lot like “global warming” to me.

In the past, when fluorocarbons were a mainstay of the hairspray industry, I’d just open the door and spritz the atmosphere in an attempt to widen the hole in the ozone. I was way ahead of Al Gore in my thinking about managing the environment.

Heat Wave Lyrics
Artist(Band):Ella Fitzgerald

We’re having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The temperature’s rising,
It isn’t surprising,
She certainly can can-can.

She started the heat wave
By letting her seat wave and
In such a way that
The customers say that
She certainly can can-can.

Gee, her anatomy
Made the mercury
Jump to ninety-three.

Yes sir!

We’re having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The way that she moves
That thermometer proves
That she certainly can can-can.

I was watching The Weather Channel on Saturday to get some info on the next round of snow we are expecting. He actually said that he was afraid that all of the cold weather would convince folks that warming wasnt happening and then spouted out some b.s. explanation how the cold is caused by warming. Here in Omaha, we have about 30 inches of snow on the ground and are expecting another 7 on Wednesday. It was -12 when I left for work this morning. Please don’t pee on me and tell me it’s raining. No more Weather Channel in my house.

Buffalo and all those lake cities can be used as winter training for the military.
My buddy lives near there, and I swear they still had snow piles in June.
And if one more lefty talks about Global Warming, I am going to strip them naked and force them to shovel snow.

ROFL

This is warm compared to the average temperatures from 1315-1850.

The whole “RECORD BREAKING” crap is meant to mislead people. The only “records” being broken are the ones that started being kept in 1914.
