The trials for the terrorist attacks on 9/11 will begin as early as this year and NYPD costs could be in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
Schumer has sent a letter to the Budget Director, Peter Orszag, and Attorney General Eric Holder asking the federal government to pay every dime required for the security to the city, the NYPD and other law enforcement.
