John Brennan, President Obamas top terrorism adviser, rallied to the defense of the administration Sunday, taking on critic-in-chief Dick Cheney and explaining the deep-seated systemic failure that Obama mentioned in comments last week.
Mr. Obama has come under heavy criticism from Republicans since an attempt to blow up Northwest Flight 253 over Detroit failed on Christmas Day, primarily because the man charged in the incident, Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, was on a US terrorism watch list.
Mr. Cheney has arguably been the most pointed in his criticism of Obama, declaring last week that the president is trying to pretend that we are not at war by his decision to delay any public comments about the attack for several days and by changing some Bush-era antiterrorism policies.

Obama didn't have any choice or he'd look even more foolish.
He had to leave his virtual world of "Lets all be friends" and call a terrorist a terrorist and war....war.
Now he has to get with the realism of profiling, military trials and cutting all the PC crap.

The incident showed that the reforms taken after 9/11 have not yet created a system that is able to put all that information together, he said.
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Too many organizations, too much bureaucracy, too much interorganizational colonialism, too much personal horn blowing, and not near enough concern for the United States of America. A real President would put an instant stop to the BE ES.

But...but...but....guys....barry was in the middle of a golf game and had no time for such mundane things as world terrorism....geeesss, whatsamattaU? /sarc
As is common among those who climb through the ranks by unearned assistance, there comes a time when that person will be ask to perform up to this level of his/her purported creditials...that's when we find the paper diploma on the wall was photoshopped too.
The protected class in this country can get a Master's degree in rocket science on line, and then be issued an impressive looking diploma. But when the talk must match the walk, it all falls apart...welcome to the obama presidency.
There is so much double-speak coming out of this White House, they now introduce him as the president and the president of the united states. When challenged barry gets noticibly upset and turns from the "polished speaker" we hear so much about to a ghetto smartass.
The night that the Congressman said "You Lie" during nobama's speech - note the pause, and the quick cutting of the eyes and pointing of the finger; I'm guessing it was everything he could do to hold back the expletives. It was an "How dare you speak to the king that way" look.
The frost if off ol' barry's pumpkin, and there is nothing that his czars, his media, or his 20% adoring fans can do about it...except make threats, which is the last act of a dying regime.
But I don't think he is specifically trying to pretend that we're "not at war"...I just think he pretends to be president...and it shows.

Couldn’t agree more!
p.s. I took the liberty of swapping two words to fix the sentence.

It took the President 3 days to respond to the Christmas Day bombing attempt but no time at all to respond to VP Cheney.

Brennan was the guy in charge of the firm whose employees committed thirty-something unauthorized breaches into Obama's State Department (passport) files.
Sorta makes you wonder why Obama hired that guy to be his top security advisor. Maybe Brennan knows some *interesting* stuff about his boss.

The Obama/Holder administration’s push to prosecute CIA agents for doing their job certainly doesn’t help the situation.

Well, maybe the "system" isn't a system at all. The government is largely incapable of assembling and processing this sort of information.
Now how about this: The first person in any agency who gets any information that any individual is involved in any activity that indicates there is any connection to a terrorist organization or plot enters the information. Then, after that information is entered in the no fly list, the CIA's list of suspected terrorists, the DHS's list, the State Department's list, etc, the matter is investigated and if appropriate, the person is taken off the list. Geeze, How hard is this?
I really love my country but I hate the government.

Anyone see Michael Scheuer on CNN when he told the CNN talkinghead that the fault really lies with Clinton, Brennan, Berger, etc for failing to kill Osama when they had him in the crosshairs?!
