Report: Brennan knew of underwear bombing technique By Tony Romm - 01/02/10 01:24 PM ET

The White House's top counter-terrorism adviser learned in October that al Qaeda operatives had researched -- and attempted -- attacks using the same underwear bombing technique employed aboard Flight 253 on Christmas Day, Newsweek reported on Saturday.

According to reports, Deputy National Security Adviser John Brennan received the briefing from his counterpart in Saudi Arabia, who survived an assassination by al Qaeda attackers from Yemen. Reports Newsweek:

"The briefing to Brennan was delivered at the White House by Muhammad bin Nayef, Saudi Arabia’s chief counter-terrorism official. In late August, Nayef had survived an assassination attempt by an operative dispatched by the Yemeni branch of Al Qaeda who was pretending to turn himself in. The operative had tried to kill the Saudi prince by detonating a bomb disguised in his underwear, but stumbled on his way into the prince's palace and blew himself up.

U.S. officials now suspect that the attempted assassin of Nayef and Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the Nigerian suspect aboard the Northwest flight, had the same bombmaker in Yemen, intelligence experts tell Newsweek. At the briefing for Brennan, Nayef was concerned because “he didn’t think [U.S. officials] were paying enough attention” to the growing threat from Al Qaeda in Yemen, said a former U.S. intelligence official familiar with the briefing."

Interestingly enough, Brennan will canvass the Sunday talk shows this weekend. He is sure to face countless questions about the Obama administration's pre-attack intelligence gathering -- a process the president himself has described as a "systemic failure."

It would have worked if we didn’t have an administration headed by someone with his fingers in his ears singing, “La, la, la, la.”

Just so no one forgets. Brennan was the men running the company responsible for the security breach of the candidates passports during the election.

Hmmmmmm. Turn himself in. In the case of the seven CIA operatives we have a bomber who is ostensibly interested in becoming an informant. May we have a broader, even more orchestrated plan of attack than even Yemen implies?

‘security breach of the passports’ — please elaborate. I have tried to erase last fall from my brain.

Yeah that sounds like the kind of “news” that comes out of the saudis.

This administration is guilty of more than being inept. They should be charged with the murder of the soldiers at Fort Hood and the attempted murder of the passengers on the plane.

It appears that this administration felt that the perception that the terrorists had of Obama was more important than American lives.

He has surrounded himself with leftists who have always felt that we deserved 911 because we are capitalists. It has become increasingly difficult for Obama to hide his contempt of the American people and his admiration for terrorists, and dictators from the American people.

Impeachment is the only thing that will save the American people from further attacks.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The CEO of a company whose employee is accused of improperly looking at the passport files of presidential candidates is a consultant to the Barack Obama campaign, a source said Saturday.

I had thought that the passport security breach was the Clintonites going for something on Obama.

Now I wonder if it wasn’t Team Obama getting something on the Clintons.

In either scenario, the perps opened up Clinton and Obama files to disguise their intent.

All I know is, Obama has something on the Clintons. Hillary rolled over at the Convention too easily. Even six months before, the nomination was hers for the asking.

It is also interesting that she is AWOL on this whole FLight 253 incident when her State Dept. is in it up to their eyeballs.

Bingo. Yes, it is obvious that Al Qaeda has psy-ops and is using their knowledge of how we think and feel against us.

The first thought was that it was one of the candidates spying on his or her rivals. But I believe all three of those involved in going through the three main candidates’ passports had connections with Obama. Including the guy who was shot in DC right before he was about to testify.

It seems obvious now that it had a triple purpose. The main purpose was to clean out any evidence that Obama had traveled on Indonesian or other foreign passports. The secondary reason was to go into all three so as to cover what the purpose was.

And presumably the third reason was to find anything that could be used against Juan and Hillary. But pretty certainly the main reason was to clean out all of Obama’s files, to hide what passports he traveled on and perhaps where he traveled to. Maybe his mother as well.

Yes, I agree with your hypothesis. Seems Brennan was rewarded for his role in the “scrub”.

So your thinking that AQ in Yemen are working with the Taliban?

I could have missed it because of the holidays...but has the US said what kind of bomb was used against the CIA?

Thanks!
