One of the older ladies at my church can’t find a doctor in the Memphis, TN area that will take her Medicare. This is not an isolated incident, it is happening widely

She will have to seek out a primary care physician who works for a "nonprofit" hospital or facility. Many docs in private practice are taking this route, and I can't blame them.

The only non-profit hospital in the Memphis are is the Regional Medical Center...The Med which is about to go belly up. Seems they treat to many free loading illegals who treat it as a doctors office. Then there are the Medicaid folks from Mississippi and Arkansas whose states are REAL SLOW about reimbursing The Med for their treatment. Meanwhile we Tennesseans are being asked for more tax dollars to support The Med. A trip to the ER could take 8 or more hours.

Now The Med's Trauma Center is one of the best for a 100 miles or more, Elvis started it and it is named after him. The neo-natal unit is top draw too.

But it is not a teaching hospital, all the docs are in private practice.
