I’m ok with the government keeping some things secret. IMHO (sorry IBM) they have covered up numerous terrorist incidents. I used to think they were doing this to deny the terrorists the PR benefit of their attack.
Now I think much of these types of things are kept secret for political reasons. I find that unacceptable.
I agree with your latter point.
Pols don’t get to cover up stuff just because it makes them look bad.
