I read somewhere that people that give a comeback with nothing but swearing are low IQ.

You read something like it here. I reported it as my Parents taught it to me and my brother. "The reason people use profanity is because they don't have enough education to use a proper word." So it could be due to a low IQ. I know many "educated" people who resort to profanity rather than educate themselves on a topic and I know a few "low IQ" people who would never use profanity even if they were totally ignorant about a subject.
