It’s a hopeless cause trying to educate people here about politics in Massachusetts.

They have no idea how difficult it is for a politician with an R next to their name. They have no idea how difficult it is for a republican governor with a state legislature that is completely Democratic.

They don’t understand that the 100% purity test cannot be applied.

I don’t understand it either ladyjane, it makes absolutely no sense to me, but that’s the way it is. Heck unless you go searching the internet you have no idea what party anyone is in during most elections. I have had to do that to even find out if any “R”s are running at all. Talking to folks, it is amazing how numb people have gotten when it comes to politics. I believe it is the biggest reason for the NE being so increasingly un-neighborly over the last few decades. People are just staying in their own circles or staying home.

Interesting that you should talk about people being increasingly un-neighborly. I’ve noticed this recently. People are really hunkering down. Even with Christmas cards, there were people who send cards every year who didn’t do it this year. Maybe it’s the economy?

I am sure it is, partly the economy. But mostly it is the completely divided political climate, and it is especially apparent in the NE, where it has been this way for at least the last 10 years.
