This is what happens when you play mommy and daddy. At the time I bet the birth mother thought they were hip and cool. Now it sounds like she might be a fugitive and will loose all rights to see her child if caught.

Forget that its a lesbian couple. They took a child from a biological parent and awarded custody to a non-biological person. From what I’ve read there was no abuse by the mother.

How does that happen?

If the other mother has custody, she will still have full visitation rights.

Parenting is not about genetics. It’s a verb, and it’s about who loves and treasures and cares for the child. These two set out to parent this baby. It’s like adoption for the other parent.

Of course it will be terrible for the child. One should not divorce unless one parent is harming the other parent or the child. They should have lived together forever, even platonically, and made themselves get along while they love and parent their precious child. And if they had to split, they should have lived in the same neighborhood.
