Janet Napolitano is impressed with Janet Napolitano's work. In an instantly notorious statement on CNN over the weekend, the Homeland Security secretary said "the system worked" when a man boarded a Christmas Day flight from Amsterdam to Detroit with explosives in his underwear that he couldn't quite manage to ignite.

Does "the system" count on all explosive devices smuggled onto international flights not detonating? When Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab set himself on fire while trying to blow up the plane and kill its 278 passengers, a Dutch filmmaker leapt on him, ripped a smoldering object from near his crotch and put it out with his bare hands. Or as Napolitano put it, "Everybody played an important role here."

What kills me is the freedom of travel and immigration we allow Islamic people while THEY have declared war on us anyway. What reason did this kid have to travel to the U.S. in the first place? As far as I'm concerned a legitimate congress would restrict their commercial travel and immigration until THEY deal with this problem within THEIR faith and culture.

I love this comment below the article: Perhaps we can induce the administration to fight the terrorists by telling them that the bombs that they are setting off are causing global warming. Bin Laden may not have overwhelming support but does that make anyone feel safer from terrorist attacks? I’m sure we could find hate being taught in the vast majority of Mosques anywhere in the world including right here in the U.S. So who ever thought this issue was just dependent on Bin Laden?
