The common message for their state and local elected officials: Do something. Obama has spent more time golfing in his first year than Bush did in his first 4 years. To be honest, if Obama promised to do nothing at all for the next 3 years the economy would recover and I promise I wouldn't make fun of Obama golfing instead of being president. I guess what I'm saying is, I want him to vote NOT-present.

Sure there is, a dirt-simple one. Fire half of all state workers, and cut the salaries of all the ones left back to normal private sector levels. Let them save for their own pensions and buy their own health insurance, too. And no handouts for non-citizens. Budget balances in a minute flat.
