Lawrence Solomon: Wikipedia's hockey stick wars (Climate gate)
National Post ^ | December 23 2009 | Lawrence Solomon

Posted on 12/23/2009 2:38:25 PM PST by knighthawk

Since my Saturday column described how Wikipedia editors have been feverishly rewriting climate history over much of the decade, fair-minded Wikipedians have been doing their best to correct the record. No sooner than they remove gross distortions, however, than the distortions are replaced. William Connolley, a Climategate member and Wikipedia’s chief climate change propagandist, remains as active as ever.

How does Wikipedia work and how do Connolley and his co-conspirators exercise control? Take Wikipedia’s page for Medieval Warm Period, as an example. In the three days following my column’s appearance, this page alone was changed some 50 times in battles between Connolley’s crew and those who want a fair presentation of history.

Forget Wikipedia as a source. It was a bad idea to start with. Just ignore it and never there. It is completely unreliable. It is a Leftist propaganda site designed to make money for the Left.

Stalin sanitized Soviet history.

Wiki is just as reliable.

Many people are not aware of what is going on.

The days of Stalinism are back. Compare the following photos of Yehzov.

I think I remember this tradition goes back to nearly pre-history. One problem Egyptologists have is that subsequent Pharaoh’s would routinely wipe out the history of predecessors.

Connolley is not exactly a mind-numbed true believer into "adjusting" things to meet his ideological motives.

Nope ~ this guy is a critical component in the effort to maintain the CARBON CREDIT TRADE.

He was fighting change the last three weeks. This weekend the CARBON CREDIT business tanked.

It's over. Connolley lost. His side need to get good jobs at low wages, if they're lucky.

Reading through the Wiki write-up it does seek to make Stalin seen prescient, very politically astute, and quite aware of appearances.

Hmmm ~ naw, Stalin wasn't prescient, was a political thug, and actually didn't particularly care what others thought of him or his behavior ~ he killed people for no reason at all!

Why are the Wiki writers trying to rehabilitate this monster?

Agreed, but I’m glad someone is fighting back. Conservatism doesn’t lose, it abdicates.

I could not disagree more strongly. Conservatives need to be everywhere. And loudly. It is completely unreliable, but it is a source for millions of people. We can’t win when we’re sitting on the bench.

We can learn a lot from Stalin. he was colder than Ice in Antarctic. He wasn’t just a thug, thugs don’t stay in power long. He was manipulative and understood human nature. He was a shark in a tank of sharks. Had he been on the losing end of his political fights he would have shared Yezhov’s fate. The period in which he ruled has a lot of parallels to today. Obambi and his hangers on may not idolize him but admire him as do most on the left. One Lesson that climategate has for us is how similar it was to the effect Lysenko had on Soviet science during Stalin’s rule and how science is today corrupted by politics..

Wikipedia is simply another part of the MSM, neither more nor less. It can be useful - but you always have to allow for the possibility of political motives.

See the before and after of commissar Yezhov?

Here’s the link for a book.
I curse myself for not making an “impulse purchase” of the book
at the Santa Monica CA book store while on noon break on a jury.

“The Commissar Vanishes: The Falsification of Photographs
and Art in Stalin’s Russia”

The Soviets were ,masters at it but not the only practitioners. Less common in Nazi Germany. But hey, here in America we have Photoshop..You’re not missing much. There is a multitude of books and material in good libraries going back to the 50’s.

i use it as a starting point, and it does have good information for the most part on anything where political motives don't come into play...
