Most doctors are not affiliated with AMA. Just ask your dentist. Mine said, “No way.” At least you can look your doctor in the eye when you question, unlike your politian. Just my physicians maybe, but thought this was norm, like joining aarp or not, both answers are the same “No Way.”
You are correct. Most doctors are not in the AMA the same way that most lawyers are not in the ABA. Both are special interest groups that have nothing to do with the boots-on-the-ground professionals in the field. Two of my doctors offices actually had anti-healthcare bill petitions in them that they were asking their patients to sign.
Same in our area the majority of medical doctors do NOT belong to the socialist political group called the AMA. Maybe in big cities they get the numbers but in smaller cities and towns across the USA the AMA is frowned upon. Our doctors in our community had their own public Tea Party a month ago. Many different disciplines represented and discussed how medicine would change their ability to practice.
I am wondering how many of our brightest and best are going to operate out of Costa Rica or somewhere like that and serve Americans who want to get care they can afford on their terms.
