The Telegraph ^ | December 20, 2009

Posted on 12/21/2009 3:14:37 AM PST by Fennie

Speaking during his weekly television and radio program, Mr Chavez said the aircraft overflew a Venezuelan military base in the western state of Zulia after taking off from neighbouring Columbia. He did not elaborate, but suggested the plane was being used for espionage.

"These are the Yankees. They are entering Venezuela," he said. "I've ordered them to be shot down," Mr Chavez said of the aircraft. "We cannot permit this."

Let's see now, F-15/F-22 versus MIG 21s or whatever he's got?

Our boys could always use some livefire target practice.

Oh gosh, we better hurry up and apologize fro this. We made him angry. I wonder if the anger has more to do with drug interdiction and his ties to it than sovereignty of his airspace?

Obama would order the US not to do anything and let the MIGSs shoot us down. Obama would apologize and all registered Democrats would cheer.

Gosh, I hope we can avoid conflict.

Thanks to President Obama’s world-class diplomatic skills and the respect that he has earned throughout the world, we will surely negotiate a settlement with Hugo so we can have peace in our time, and Venezuela can have 100 billion freshly printed Ameros.

He’s a marxist clown who needs an outside enemy to keep the people focused anywhere but on him.

Next time there should be F-22 Raptor escorts in order to dogfight and shoot down Venezuelan Su-30s if they aggressively attempt to engage any U.S. reconnaissance aircraft (RC-135 Rivet Joint / Cobra Ball; E-8 / E-10 JSTARS, etc.)

The Venezuelans better be careful about how they use their Sukhois, because they only have 24 of them (2 squadrons in total, organized under the 13th Air Group).

They wouldn't stand a chance against the Raptor and their skilled pilots at the controls.

I seriously doubt Obama would do anything.

Chavez has this guy down pat. He knows a coward when he meets one.

The Venezuelans don't have MiGs, but Sukhoi Su-30s, and they are damn formidable fighters, but no match for the Raptor.

The fighter jocks of the 7th Fighter Squadron 'Screamin Demons' can surely use some dogfight practice.

Thanks for the update on the Venezuela air force- I had forgotten that Hugo has been using all that oil money to update his military; agreed they are still no match for the Raptor.

Sure would be entertaining to watch that turkey shoot though..
