You and me both. New England, founded by the Puritans, had some good ideas, but even before we were a nation they were a region which attempted to impose its own ways upon others, they became powerful enough to do so in the Civil War and Reconstruction, and they've been doing it ever since. As that region has become more and more liberal, it's sought more and more to impose its own mores on the rest of the nation.
