See the link at post #33. Most of this committee on climate change relates to existing problems (flooding, etc) that would get worse with warming. And in the recent past, the effects of warming have been observed in Alaska. What I liked at that link is the actual work that would be done. Not to change the climate, but adapt and respond to the varying environment changes (roads, engineering, etc.). (And if I were Gov., I’d be looking at what might happen with colder temperatures as well!)
Granted, the greenhouse gas stuff to anyone that studies it is a bunch of B.S. However, as a politician, she (and others, such as Duncan Hunter) have put a bit of a question mark on our CO2 effects, but rather than saying it is B.S., will say things like “Well, it doesn’t matter if CO2 is a problem or not - I’m just interested in getting more, clean, natural gas to the U.S. market to help with our nation’s security and independence of foreign sources.”
Actualy, I was a bit surprised when Palin came out so strong in her recent facebook post. I’m glad she did, but still surprised.
One push in Alaska to “renewable” resources has more to do with price and ease than the environment. Lots of little villages, and some larger - like Skagway, use Caterpiller diesel engines to fully (or partly, as in Skagway) run their electricity. Lots of small hydroelectric projects going on to replace those diesels. (Expensive, not always reliable fuel sources with weather, equipment breakdowns etc.)
I don’t see any contradiction in her position at all.
He is cherry picking quotes on warming trends (which may or may not have been the “scientific consensus” at the time, but are increasingly unlikely), with quotes on potential Alaskan energy strategy as a result of any moves to tax carbon.
In her postion as Governor of Alaska she would need to consider potential changes in policy on carbon initiated at the federal or global level to protect and position Alaska appropriately.
If she was concerned about warming, she has always acknowledged that climate changes over time. She “may” be less convinced of that evidence now - who wouldn’t.
THis idiot doesn’t realize that many people, took the research as being accurate, and therefore, it strikes me that Palin or any other govenor’s action’s were correct at the time.
Now we know the research was falsified.
Stupidity.
Someone inform this obviously drooling "journalist" that state governors can and should work as hard as possible to protect their state, and that no one but fascists like his Dear Reader tin god are interested in a federal mandate and oversight of every aspect of our carbon-burning lives.
My God, it is like these people who fancy themselves as intellectuals have been PITHED. Things that come out of their keyboards are just plain ignorant.
>> “Climate change is not just an environmental issue,” wrote Palin
That’s climate change, not Climate Change, nor Global Warming.
They're going to have to find larger venues for her.
The earth does what it wants, man has become much more environmentally conscience and has gone out of his way to control damage, litter, pollution, etc.....these global warming nuts are just trying to cash in, just like the EPA, which is more harmful than good now a days, it's just a power hungry mob disguised as a useful organization
WHAT! Sarah Palin cooked the raw data and then threw it all away, suppressed dissent by bullying academic peer reviewers, praying for the deaths of skeptics, and thwarted FOIA requests by deleting all her emails concerning climate change????
Oh wait...
If only the media would put as much effort into finding Obama’s transcripts or perhaps even a real birth certificate?
Palin didn't grovel to international bureaucrats, envirowackos, and leftists with an agenda to address the issue.
The sub-cabinet was created WITHIN her own state, accountable to the people of Alaska - Not to the feds or the UN - and you can bet that there would have been any cost-benefit analysis done to any RECOMMENDATIONS.
After criticism for posting Palin's op-ed, the Washpost is in spin mode. So they send out Robinson to write this BS hit piece.
LOL - your posts are always right on and give me a chuckle!
Thanks for the Tuesday morning laugh!
The climate change movement is a scam. Our climate changes all of the time........in the 1700’s there was ice on the Thames river in London..........that period is called the ‘mini ice age’..............Al Gore, after lying to the congress about how he had no monetary advantage in global warming..(he has millions invested in a ‘carbon credits’ company in California)..Gore should be ridiculed and told to get lost...........
If she made bad policy decisions,
it was based on the trust in “scientists” not to have an agenda.
She won’t make that mistake again.
However, the leftist “leadership” is still pursuing their genocidal, suicidal, economy destroying agenda with this fraudulent issue as their vehicle.
The “scandal” should be in the fact that the leftists are still pursuing their agenda in light of the fraud revelation.
There is no “scandal” when you change your position when the basis of that position has been shown to be highly questionable.
Great page on man’s contribution to the greenhouse effect:
http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/greenhouse_data.html
Man’s TOTAL contribution is 0.28%.
Man’s CO2 contribution is 0.117%.
Any statisticians out there that can tell me what qualifies as “noise”?

Bull crap. There’s no there there. She appointed a panel to study the situation. It was the prudent thing for the governor of our only Arctic state to do.
Big frickin’ deal...

From what I have heard her say, she never emphasized the man-made part of the equation. She may or may not have believed it. Most people would not say it was an obvious fraud to begin with, so I don’t think this hurts her.
