Note to self: When founding a town or city, never name it "Newark." No good seems to ever come of it.
Its from “New Ark” as the founders of Newark New Jersey saw said city as a new beginning.
My grandparents lived in Newark OH in the 60’s. My grandfather was at the Air Force Station. As I remember from summertime visits it was a quiet little town.
And to think that our Puritan forefathers named the one in New Jersey “New Ark Of The Covenant” (New Ark for short). They’ve got to be spinning in their graves at what became of their shining cities, established way back in the 17th century.
