Black pastor : Reid's 'slavery' reference 'deplorable'
WorldNetDaily ^ | December 10, 2009 | Bob Unruh

Posted on 12/11/2009 2:58:52 PM PST by RobinMasters

The black pastor who leads Bond Action Inc. in support of "family, traditional moral values and positive, honest race relations" says Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., should be ashamed of comparing opposition to President Obama's plans to socialize medicine in the U.S. to support for slavery.

"Reid's comparison of legitimate Republican opposition towards the Democrats $2.5 trillion health care plan to segregationists is deplorable," Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson said today. "This was an attempt to smear Republicans as racists in order to take the focus off the details of this awful socialist health care bill. Reid's remarks are a diversion tactic by a despot leader of a desperate Democrat party. "

Reid had said, "Instead of joining us on the right side of history, all the Republicans can come up with is, 'slow down, stop everything, let's start over.' If you think you've heard these same excuses before, you're right."

Reid continued, "When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said 'slow down, it's too early, things aren't bad enough.' When women spoke up for the right to speak up, they wanted to vote, some insisted they simply, slow down, there will be a better day to do that, today isn't quite right. When this body was on the verge of guaranteeing equal civil rights to everyone regardless of the color of their skin, some senators resorted to the same filibuster threats that we hear today."

I have always wondered why more blacks do not speak up when these tactics are used by others for political gain.

I’m waiting for Time’s issue proclaiming “We’re All Race-Baiters Now!”

Reid was correct. What he conventenly forgot to mention was that the obstructionists, particurally in the slavery and civil rights issues, were Democrats. In fact, one of them is still in the Senate and is still a Democrat, the one and only Robert Byrd. This point needs to be driven home by the Senate Republicans. But will they?

When a Muslim terrorist shot and killed 13 American soldiers at Ft. Hood, Obama and his minions told us to “stop. slow down. let’s not jump to conclusions. wait til we have all the facts”.

They hate the word slavery, but they keep living with the slave mentality. Sad....

While Rev. Peterson is right to give Republicans credit for helping to push LBJ’s civil rights bill through, let’s not forget that Pres. Eisenhower got a civil rights bill passed in 1957 in spite of getting NO help from the democrats. If that f...head Reid can’t read the healthcare bill all the way through, he could at least pick up a history book and read that.

But facts didn’t matter in Connecticut where the police were acting “stupidly”.

Because not one so called black leader is concerned for blacks. They use the blacks for their own gain. They know that if they turn against the REAL leaders, that is “white” liberals, their game is over. It’s obvious who works in the field and who works in the house. The “house negroes” are very proud that the house has actually been taken over by the one of their own. Now they’re ready to start collecting the rent.

Is Reid Mormon? He sure doesn’t act like one. And I’m sure the liberals started taking over Nevada when all the college graduates started moving their during the boom. Now they’re moving back home to mama and daddy. Maybe the conservatives will take charge again.

Why is it that “booms” are always bad for conservatives and good for liberals who are anti business? Doesn’t make sense.

Preach on, Reverend Jesse! I’ve met him and he’s done good things in an attempt to awaken the Black community.

My family gave of its line May 25, 1864 to fight the evil espoused by Reid's party.

I call on the execrable Reid to renounce Byrd.

For that matter, let Bill Clinton renounce his mentor William J. Fulbright.

Let Al Gore renounce his father.

Credit where credit is due, Dingy Harry.
