Has Swine Flu Been Oversold?

Ask the families of loved ones who have died as a result of it.

No offense, but it's a matter of numbers. Of course, deaths cause suffering for families. However, because a very small number (in proportion to total) have died because of swine flu (in actuality cause of death may have been due to MRSA contracted while weakened by the flu), some of us are asking did it justify the hysteria?

For example, 45,000 people died as a result of motor vehicle accidents in 2005 (http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5807a1.htm. "In 2005, the most recent year for which data are available, 45,520 deaths in the United States were related to motor vehicles.") Motor vehicular deaths aren't being given the hype and coverage because a small (relatively) portion of the population died.

It's Obama declaring a "national disaster" and the media-assisted hype bothering us.
