The white spiral may be a cone shape if seen in profile just like the blue light is. The blue light also is spiral. The tail end is weird because it can be the tail or either the blue light or white light. I wonder if there was to be a red spiral also.

This is fascinating. It'd be nice to find out how they did this... who did this....how much carbon was used...

This - translated from a Norwegian news site:

A mysterious light the sky shocked residents in northern Norway on Wednesday morning. Norwegian Meteorological Institute is experiencing telephone storm.

- People from Finnmark in the far north to south in Trøndelag call and say they have seen the light, “said Mona Mariann Lie at the meteorological department to VG Nett.

- It spun and exploded in the sky, “said Totto Eriksen from Tromsø.

- We saw it from the Inner Harbor in Tromsø. It was absolutely fantastic. It almost looked like a rocket that spun around and around, and then went diagonally down the heavens. It looked like the moon was coming over the mountain, but then came something completely different, “says Eriksen.

- People stopped on the pier. It was absolutely amazing, “says Eriksen.

- It was like a giant spiral

- a shooting star that spun around and around. I initially thought it was a projector. The lights still, “says Axel Rose Berg from Alta.

- There must be a phenomenon that has happened in the atmosphere. The question is whether it has come from above or from below.

VG Nett has been in contact with Andøya Rocket Range who said that there have been no launches on Wednesday morning.

Celebrity astronomer Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard experiencing personal best in nedringning Wednesday morning. Nor did he know what this is, and says he has never heard of anything like this.

- This is seen over an exceptionally large part of the country, in all of North Norway and the Trøndelag. My first thought was that it was a fireball meteor, but it has lasted far too long that it may have been there. It may have been a missile in Russia, but I can not guarantee that it is the answer, says Ødegaard told VG Nett.

He has been in contact with the Air traffic control tower in Tromsø.

- They said it was seen in over two minutes. It is far too long that it can be an astronomical phenomenon. Ildfenomener is not unusual, but it’s spiral shape is unique. This is definitely not a variation of the aurora, “he says.

- First it was a very strong white light in the middle of the ring. Then it began to spread outwards. The green line or beam that you see in the picture was there in probably ten to twelve minutes afterwards. It was my father who discovered it. He has not seen anything like that before. We stood on the porch at home and wondered how this could be. I do not think it’s aurora. We are accustomed to seeing, “said Kristiansen.

- People have no idea about what it is. They have nothing they can relate it to, because no one has seen anything like this before. There may be a meteorite, but it is only speculation. We do not know what it is, but should try to find out. We are just curious, too.

The only thing Robertsen is sure is that the light does not have anything with the northern lights.
