We're in a sad sad state, here. These SOB’s vote themselves raises every chance they get, enjoy lifetime benefits, and thumb their noses at us.

I've never seen a group of people so corrupt and arrogant.

This is what a First Term congress critter gets
Rank-and-File Members:
The current salary (2009) for rank-and-file members of the House and Senate is $174,000 per year.

Add $4,700 for 2010 and it's $178,700.

So they get a nice automatic 2.7% RAISE and granny gets ZERO, even though Medicare Part A and B deductions will increase for 2010. And Medicare Part D insurance is ALSO going up for 2010.

So Seniors and the Permanently Disabled (1) will actually get LESS money in 2010, a LOT less. (if they got the lousy 2.7% like congress they'd *almost* break even for 2010).

(1) This is NOT SSI which Junkies and alcoholics get.

We actually need to publicize this little factoid (All Federal Workers got a COLA increase - and am sure State Workers across the country have as well -

while Social Security beneficiaries did not
while military retirees did not
while millions are jobless and have NO salary to increase

Needs to make it to ALL the alternative media outlets.

Emphasize the amount Congress is getting - but emphasize the HUGE gap out there between those in the private and umployed sector and those in government....funded by TAXPAYERS....or by thin air since we are bankrupt everywhere.

I like this for a start:

Start with all new congressmen and senators and pay cap them at $100 thousand a year (no automatic pay raises).

Term limits shall be a maximum of two terms, 2 in the house or two in the senate but not both.

Retirement pay = 50% of your congressional pay but not available until age 65.

You can’t put relatives on the payroll and you can’t play you hire mine and I will hire yours either.

You can’t be a lobbyist for 10 years after you leave office.

If you start getting greedy by way of lobbyist money, you and the lobbyist will both go to jail. That may sound a bit Draconian, but how else are we to rid ourselves of these parasites and their sleazy practices?

Someone told me that Harry Reid has three sons and a son In law who are all registered lobbyists, boy talk about access.

I've gotten one lousy 2.5% raise in the last three years, and these monkeys keep digging deeper into the fruit bowl just for themselves. I want them all fired!

This is a huge story. Seniors are livid. And it’s because of Obama’s weak economy.

Here’s a story from May which spells out the upcoming crisis for our Social Security recipients. Their checks are going to decrease for the first time in 30 years.

No Social Security COLA increase for 2010

However, both the Obama administration and the Congressional Budget Office (pdf) are forecasting that Social Security beneficiaries will not receive any cost of living adjustments in fiscal 2010 or 2011. The reason? The pronounced recession in the United States, which has created pricing pressure — not pricing power — for businesses. Pricing power is so weak for firms that the Federal Reserve believes the nation is more likely to experience a bout of deflation — not inflation — at least through mid-2010, and perhaps for a longer period.

Deflation — a protracted, systematic decline in prices and wages — occurs in pronounced recessions and in other conditions during which demand is nonexistent, and it robs companies of the ability to increase revenue and hurts the economy’s ability to grow. If it takes hold, that’s another hurdle policymakers will have to grapple with as they attempt to end the U.S. and global recessions.

The lack of a COLA adjustment would represent a net-gain in revenue for the Social Security operation, although there will be some subtractions to revenue, due to the fact that Medicare Part B premium increases are linked to Social Security’s COLA and cannot rise more than the COLA. Hence, if there is no COLA, the Part B premium can not increase.

However, the lack of a benefit would also feed fewer dollars into the U.S. economy at a time when it needs all the demand pressure it can get, due to a smaller workforce stemming from layoffs and belt-tightening across the nation, senior citizens included.

Economic Analysis: The net result of no 2010 COLA is that millions of Social Security recipients will see their monthly benefit check reduced for the first time. Though the amount would be small, it represents another incremental reduction in income — like a small increase in an electric utility rate or a small property tax increase — that reduces the amount of money Americans have to spend, save, or invest. When combined, these incremental cuts place a substantial drag on the economy and are one major factor cause of the declines in retail sales and discretionary purchases.
