I hope Mike Huckabee meant it when he said recently that he's not sure he wants to make a second run for president. Though he's right up there with Sarah Palin in polls of the prospective Republican field for 2012, his odds of success are suddenly slim to none.
You could argue that the former Arkansas governor is a victim of bad luck. You could argue that he's a victim of his own bad judgment. What's inarguable is that Huckabee commuted the prison term of a man killed by police after he allegedly shot and killed four police officers Sunday morning in Washington state, and it's not the first time he has been in this particular spotlight.

I’d settle for the fact that we don’t need a clemency/pardon friendly person in the White House. Especially one who’s been noted for bad judgment in the past.
They should ask the same question in Dec2010 and see what the results are. Let’s face it; most of America will have forgotten by then, or consider it old news.
Or you could argue that the dead police officers are victims of his own bad judgment. Huckabee ain't the victim; he's the perp.
No. The media would forget this until he got the nomination, and THEN they would miraculously remember it.
But it won’t happen. Enough people will remember it, and we’ll remind them if they don’t.
I would agree with if it were 1979 without 24/7 cable news, right-wing talk radio, the Internet and right-wing blogosphere. Huck can run but he will never be able to hide from this.
Why does the article say that this animal”allegedly” shot the cops? Is there any doubt? Is he going to sue for defamation? Or has “allegedly” just become a suffix always applied as a defense against our nation’s vast army of lawyers.
It will be interesting to see if he keeps his gig at FoxNews.
CNN just reported that after Clemmons was killed they found one of the dead cop’s gun on Clemmon’s person.
Game, set, match!
God moves in a mysterious way, his wonders to perform;
He plants his footsteps in the sea, and rides upon the storm.
Huckabee said on Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor” Monday night that Clemmons was allowed back on the street because prosecutors failed to file paperwork in time.
Huckabee is such a POS; what does that have to do with commuting his sentence. He does not deserve to be anything more than a guest host on a talk show.
Paul Begala on CNN jump dumped on Huckabee. When the Dems dump on you know you are toast.
Does anyone know *exactly* what this monster was convicted of in Arkansas to earn him 90+ years before Huck’s bleeding heart clemency. What righties never accepted during 2008 was that the guy had a SOCIALIST record as governor! Bob
He never would have gotten my vote as he is of the same mold as George Bush in terms of using the government to “help” the downtrodden. Kind sentiment and good intentions from a reverand Huckabee, but intentions pale in front of the terrible failure statistics of such endeavors.
Are you kidding!!! The RATS will be screaming in the streets to remind the country. They are never going to let go of this story.
The Huckster hasn’t ruled out 2012, only said he is “leaning toward” not running. He is also sending e-mails and hawking his PAC as if he is running. I have the uneasy feeling that everyone will be so busy beating up the Romney Pinata (Rudy Ver. 2) that Huck will slide right in there as McCain Ver. 2.
The JUANnibie Huckster’s chances weren’t degraded by this week’s news at all.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. So long Mike.
He is not presidential material.
He is a decent right wing talk show host and he runs a civilized discussion.
Remember what Ross Perot said about Clinton:
“Ft. Worth has more people and commerce than all of Arkansas! Would you elect the mayor of Ft. Worth to be President? Of course not...”
