One of two things is happening here. Either these individuals are not being vetted properly or there is such a shortage of Arabic and Pashtu speakers coming out of our universities that we are relying on questionable sources for interpretation. Suspect its probably both. One of the ways to remedy this is to ramp up the number of scholarships to universities with the promise of good employment after graduation. Another check would be to polygraph all interpreters for the accuracy of the information they are providing. After 9/11 I suspected that this would be a problem but its something I thought we could get guidance on from the Israeli's who have a lot more experience at this.

The Israelis have many skilled and trustworthy interpreters of Arabic languages, naturally, but it is US policy not to use them.

Their loyalty is NOT to the USA! It’s to the murdering ideology that is cleverly disguised as a religion.
Since they are taught from birth that it’s OK to lie to us infidels, they actually believe they are telling the truth, and a polygraph test will not detect their lies.

The are plenty of Christian Arab speakers they do not need to turn to more risky Muslim Arab speakers. As for Pashtun that is another problem. I wonder if Muslims in the government are trying to keep Christian translators out?
