Ultimately, every time a Governor or President pardons a criminal, they’re taking a gamble the guy won’t go sour. Parole boards too. And when they gamble wrong, others take the brunt of the pain. I’d like to have Huckabee’s adviser(s) who said this guy was OK to be on the tube too, apologizing to the families of the 4 slain.

“If I could have known nine years ago this guy was capable of something of this magnitude, obviously I would have never granted the commutation.” Let’s see, didn’t you commute his 60 year term FOR SEVEN FELONY CHARGES? Didn’t you let a rapist/murderer out, as well?
The only prudent thing is to NOT LET VIOLENT PEOPLE GO EARLY. So, you had to have had a really strong reason for making society pay this way, right, Mr. Huckster?
Sadly, I know he had no reason outside of wanting to look kind and compassionate at everyone elses’ expense.
Nice work, you freaking idiot, Rev. Huckster!

Huckabee is still hiding behind the Post Prison Transfer Board and their recommendation to decrease his sentence to 49 years or so so that the Parole board could parole him out.
The prosecutors, as they are stating now, though Huckabee refuts this, warned him about this creep and he still went ahead and effectively released him.
To: Free ThinkerNY
He didn’t apologize, he blamed the prosecutors for failing to give him the proper information to make the right decision. At least when The First Rapist was Governor of Arkansas, he denied Clemmons clemency when a judge determined Clemmons was fit to be released.

Sorry, but I am not willing to give the Huckster a break on this.
He pardoned over 700 felons while he was in office, more than all the pardons issued by the 6 states surrounding Arkansas.
Either he was trying to buy votes or he seriously lacks the common sense necessary to lead.

Interesting to know what the truth of the matter was. Did the prosecutors fail to respond?
Even if true, I should think they should have been asked AGAIN before letting a violent criminal out, rather than taking failure to respond as agreement.
I would add that there were NUMEROUS other cases of violent criminals and murderers who were pardoned by Huckabee. A huge number, at least one of whom went on to commit more violent crimes.
Moreover, as I recall, there were several other cases where there was at least the appearance that Huckabee was paid to pardon people—same as his buddy clinton.

All this could have been avoided for Mr. Huckster if he had simply refused the clemency. Had this animal then be released, via some other means (i.e., a Democratic judge), then Huckster would be in the clear.
But Huckster made a character judgment, and it cost 4 families BIG-TIME. As president, a similar misjudgment will result in lost cities and millions if not 10s of millions of deaths.
Based on this (and his hundreds of other springings), he simply is not up to the role of dealing with world leaders.

He pardoned 700 felons in office?
And I was criticized on FR because I supported McCain over him?

Huck needs to get back into his being a preacher and set up some soup kitchens and help the homeless and stay away from issues that ate way over his head.

I’m not giving him any more a ‘break’ than I gave Dukakis when he released a prisoner (Horton I think the name was) for weekend furlough and murder sprees. I’m just saying these guys can’t know the heart of the prisoners, they’re taking advise of political advisers, and we’re the ones who catch hell when they make the bad call.
Screw Pardons, ESPECIALLY for violent felons. And yes, he was fishing for votes from the liberals in state.

Until now, Huckabee has refused to comment on his controversial policy of making violent prisoners eligible for parole they include murderers, armed robbers and rapists, who often return to a life of crime after theyre freed but in a statement to The Leader this week, he lashed out at prosecutors for not doing more to keep prisoners behind bars to which Pulaski County Prosecuting Attor-ney
Larry Jegley had this response: Thats a load of baloney.
Im offended as a prosecutor and as a citizen. He can blame the prosecutors, but ultimately hes the man responsible, Jegley says. Hes the only one who can sign on the dotted line.
_ In addition, Jegley, Saline County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Herzfeld and others have accused Huckabee of violating the state Constitution when he commutes sentences without explanation. The Constitution requires the governor to give reasons why he grants clemency to criminals.
He doesnt do it, insists Herzfeld, who recently had a clemency overturned because Huckabee did not explain why he commuted a murderers life sentence
Huckabee is a liar and a weasel.

Apparently Huckabee was looking to take the "Willie Horton Bleeding Heart" trophy away from Mike Dukakis.
I guess this sticks the fork in whatever 2012 presidential aspirations he might have had.

his being a preacher and set up some soup kitchens
Leave him in the kitchen and leave the preaching to someone else. Some of the things I read on FR that he said is not biblical.
