The West must undergo a radical lifestyle change to prevent a global warming disaster, the world's leading climate change scientist has said.
Rajendra Pachauri, the chairman of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), said imposing hefty taxes and increasing electrity monitoring is needed to combat the ways of adults who have been "corrupted" by their daily routines.
Dr Pachauri caused controversy last year after suggesting people should eat less meat due to the levels of carbon emissions associated with rearing livestock.
His latest suggestions include curbing car use, increasing London's congestion charge to £25, putting electricity monitoring equipment in hotel rooms and implementing hefty aviation taxes to stop people flying.
In an interview with the Observer Dr Pachauri said: "Today we have reached the point where consumption and people's desire to consume has grown out of proportion. The reality is that our lifestyles are unsustainable.
"I don't see why you couldn't have a meter in the room to register your energy consumption from air-conditioning or heating and you should be charged for that.
"By bringing about changes of this kind, you could really ensure that people start becoming accountable for their actions."

These are really radical people pushing this copenhagen agenda. Obama seems to be one of them.
I don’t mind taxing pollution, provided that we eliminate the taxes on income.
He’s a freaking railroad engineer with a degree in mechanical engineering and no advanced degrees in anything to do with climate science.
He is a UN apparatnik.
I fully agree that we need to subject the “climate change” scientists to hefty taxes and monitoring.
What are these people on AUTO-PILOT?
DIDN’T WE JUST LEARN LAST WEEK THAT GLOBAL WARMING DATA WAS FAKED????
Another bunch of MORONS that DIDN’T bother to READ THE MEMO!!
Moronhagen is for Dummies.
Ummmm, isn't that what the thing on the OUTSIDE of my house is already doing?
Charles Krathammer, please call your office. You have a patient in need.
Oh yeah Raj, you can go tax yourself and you can do a few other things to yourself too.
These scumbags deserve to be put in prison.
I think this one reads better........
"I fully agree that we need to subject the climate change scientists to a daily beotch slappin' and a$$ kickin'."
...ahh, I feel much better now.
Go to wiki...shared the Nobel peace Prize with Gore...Nee I say more...
It's about imposing a fascist dictatorship and the de-industrialization of the West. The solution is the goal.
There is no problem. There is only this solution.
Thats just more proof this is a fraud.
The leaked emails from the University of East Anglia will not affect the UN's advice on global warning, said Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the UN's climate change body.
Too late. The cat’s out of the bag. The warmmongers are now reduced to saying “pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!”
Boy, the alarmists sure are getting shrill these days.
Somewhere there is a cheap, turquoise trimmed motel missing a night manager.
Hey, I’m willing to live in poverty so a bunch of lying liberal “scientists” can keep the grant money flowing... /s
We need to reduce the population to really reduce global warming.
1) An all-out war between India and Pakistan would do part of the job.
2) An all-out war between India and China would do another part of the job.
3) Eliminating all health and financial aid to African countries would do another part of the job.
4) Pushing abortions wordwide (except Africa) would do another part of the job.
A few more good ideas like these and global warming will no longer be a problem. Radioactive fallout might be, but that’s another story... Like the ideas, Mr. Pachauri??
The IPCC is full of corrupt people, not all are scientists - IPCC has been proven wrong many times. Tell this deaf person there is no crisis, let alone something akin to global warming cum climate change. Anyone with half a brain knows this GW&CC is a hoax!....for money, for keeping grants, for expanding universities........
