Four police officers were shot and killed Sunday morning in what authorities called a targeted ambush at a coffee shop.

Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says officers were in a coffee shop near 116th Street and Steele Street on the east side of the Air Force base at about 8:30 a.m.

Police are searching for a male suspect and interviewing witnesses. Forza Coffee is near McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma.

Troyer says the officers were preparing for their shift when a suspect or suspects "walked in with a handgun, opened fire multiple times and then fled the scene," said Troyer

Lakewood is just south of Tacoma and not far from both McChord AFB and Fort Lewis. Much of Lakewood is upscale and a nice place to live, but the area of Lakewood near Pacific Ave is a very bad area. A much filmed area on the COPS TV show because of it being high crime area. Meth labs, crack houses, gangs of all nationalities, and trailer trash, it has it all.

That was what some thought about the Seattle Cop that was executed on Halloween night, but Police knew right away that it did not fit the pattern of gang violence. More likely someone who had a grudge against police. And thats what that case turned out to be. This could be a copycat.

This article mentions 4 male and one female officers were at the table. If four were shot to death, then what about the fifth office. I’ve not seen any news outlet mention the fifth officer. I presume wounded and in the hospital?

It's 5 miles due south of the Tacoma Mall; less than a mile west of Pacific Lutheran University; literally across the street from the northeast corner of McChord AFB.
