Commonwealth throws weight behind climate talks

PORT OF SPAIN (AFP) – Commonwealth leaders representing two billion people on the planet on Saturday threw their combined weight behind upcoming climate talks, driving momentum towards a new carbon-cutting treaty.

"We, as the Commonwealth, representing one third of the world's population, believe the time for action on climate change has come," Australian Prime Minister Rudd said as he unveiled an agreement struck at a summit in Trinidad.

The Port of Spain Climate Change Consensus, backed by all 53 member states of the Commonwealth, supported the December 7-18 climate talks in Copenhagen and committed to seeking a legally binding treaty in 2010 that would set targets for greenhouse gas emission reductions.

It also upheld the adoption of clean energy, a carbon-credits trading scheme and the need for wealthier countries to pay developing nations to help them bear the economic costs of implementing environmentally friendly policies.

The statement was another fillip to the Copenhagen talks, which only recently had been forecast to fail by several officials.

In the past two weeks though, major polluters the United States, China and Brazil have all come forward with numerical carbon-reducing goals to be presented at the talks.

India, the only major nation yet to provide target, said it was also preparing figures.

High-profile leaders, including US President Barack Obama, have also said they would travel to Copenhagen.

Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen, who will host the talks, said: "I remain fully convinced that it will be possible to reach an agreement in Copenhagen." At least 90 leaders will be attending.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, too, hailed the "momentum for success."

But he cautioned work still had to be done to seal an accord.

Australian Prime Minister Rudd can’t read, won’t read about or has no knowledge of the FRAUD that is “Climategate”.

Any action to make decisions or advance agreements by heads of state under the current situation with respect to AGW should be a basis for removal from office and charges being filed. No Head of State could be unaware of the current fact that the AGW crisis is a politically motivated and manufactured HOAX.

It’s the funding. Of course. The US isn’t already so far in the red ink on the ledger, they couldn’t go a little further?

If there was a guaranteed way for the world to go into the last stages of total economic meltdown, this is probably it....

unfriggin beleivable! Senator Inhofe NEEDS to order a ‘cease and disist’ order immediately! He should be calling out htese people to put up or shut up- and since they can’t- they have NO right imposing ANY mandates on ANYONE. I’m simply stunned that world leaders are still going after a climate deal that will bilk trillions of dollars from honest hard workign folks all based on a LIE- it’s liek we’re living in an alternate universe where lies are now truth, and truth can’t seem to reach the light of day anymore.

[[Australian Prime Minister Rudd can’t read, won’t read about or has no knowledge of the FRAUD that is “Climategate”.]]

Oh- they know- Obama knows, China knows, Ban Ki Moon knows- they could just care less what the truth is and have decided to give us ALL the middle finger, and ram through htis scam on us all. It’s VERY frustrating that we can’t do a thing to stop this, and that the LIE will go on unchallenged seriously. The ONLY hope we have is for lawyers to begin suing our government and anyone involved in the climate scam to recoup the $$ that will be extorted from us

That would be another possibility IF the citizens of this country would do such a thing- but of course we won’t- We’ll simpyl sit there and tyake it and hope it ‘doesn’t get worse’- The only way this could work is if businesses all across the country agreed to unilaterally REFUSE to pay ANY money to the government or to the UN- but of course, the UN and government would then move in and cease their funds and assests ands charge them with ‘breakign the law’. I doubt enough businesses woudl be willing to risk their futures liek that- although, they might hire lawyers to make the govenrment and the UN prove their case for ‘man-caused’ global warming, but the fact is that businesses have been paying Carbon taxes for awhile now, and none of them are challenging the government- so it seems that nothign will ever be doen to stop the scammers.

All these Third World nations hope to get a piece of the American pie. Austrilia and their ilk wish to be quietly ignored in the hope these backwater nation crocidiles will eat them last.

It won’t worked....

Wow, since Bam Bam the Monkey King was elected, the commies and NWO criminals are really making their move, aren’t they?

You know, I USED to feel optimistic about Sarkozy after he was first elected. His somewhat conservative, pro-American stance was refreshing after years of Chirac’s arrogant corruption and double talk.

Seems now he is NOTHING but a MAJOR globalist shill, just another power slurping, playa TURD on the World stage.

Hopefully both houses won’t ratify this treaty.

Only the Senate is constitutional obligation to vote on treaties. The House has no voice in it...
