The drab, drum-shaped home of the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit is an anonymous little outpost, blending seamlessly with its chunky concrete neighbours on a windswept campus just outside Norwich. To the uninitiated, it has the look of a Seventies bus station waiting for the council to pull it down.
Unlikely as it may seem, however, this little corner of East Anglia is now ground zero in a controversy which just might influence the entire future of our planet.
A little over a week ago, hundreds of internal emails written by scientists working at the CRU were obtained by a hacker and posted on the internet, some of which appeared to show that researchers had deliberately faked evidence of global warming by manipulating statistics.
At first, the fallout was restricted to a row between climate change experts, played out in scientific journals and specialist internet blogs, but in the past few days, as the ripples have spread around the globe, "Climategate" has become a white hot political issue which has been seized upon by global warming sceptics and now threatens to overshadow next month's crucial climate change conference in Copenhagen.

Phil Jones, the 57-year-old director of the CRU, is the man who has suddenly found himself the number one target of climate change conspiracy theorists the world over after he sent the most damaging of all the emails exposed by the anonymous hacker.
In one message, dated November 1999, he wrote: “I’ve just completed Mike’s trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 to hide the decline.”
As Sir Humphrey Appleby of "Yes, MInister" famously said: "You never appoint a commission to study anything unless you know in advance what the commission is going to report." In the same vein, he said: "The purpose of the Official Secrets Act is not to protect secrets, it's to protect officials."
The question now is how will the MSM and the RATS cover up the fact that their main lie has been totally exposed as a fraud. So far, they seem to be pretending nothing happened.

However Bob Ward, a climate change expert at the London School of Economics and Political Science, believes world leaders will pay little attention to the scandal surrounding the CRU, arguing that politics, not science, will decide the fate of the Copenhagen summit.
I have to agree with this. Our azzes are 'cooked'. The truth don't matter. I'm not looking forward to that global cooling though.

That's how they "cover" - it just doesn't exist. When it's proven beyond a doubt the alarmists are lying, they'll just move on to the next scare tactic.
Remember when liberals said we were going to run out of oil before 2000? Or that the earth was entering an ice age? (1970's) Or that millions of people were going to starve to death (The Population Bomb by Ehrlich) or that all natural resources would start running out in the 80's?
None of it happened and each time the MSM "moved on" to the next liberal "sky is falling" bullcrap - as if it had never happened.

I have just finished reading the attached URL reference. The content is FROM Willis Eschenbach - the person who generated the FOI Act requests in the UK, which the “hacker-released” e-mails are, for the most part, addressing.
“As far as I know, I am the person who made the original Freedom Of Information Act to CRU that started getting all this stirred up. I was trying to get access to the taxpayer funded raw data out of which they built the global temperature record. I was not representing anybody, or trying to prove a point. I am not funded by Mobil, I’m an amateur scientist with a lifelong interest in the weather and climate. I’m not “directed” by anyone, I’m not a member of a right-wing conspiracy. I’m just a guy trying to move science forwards.”
This provides the context and external perspective of WHAT the CRU “scientists” were discussing internally and with the peers in their interchanges.
It is an astounding and clear indictment of the corruption and elitism with which they have treated the AGW turf as their personal fiefdom and basis for their career and personal success.
This alone indicates clearly there has likely been an illegal cover-up and conspiracy to hide and even destroy protected public information. It also makes clear that there is a DEFINITE possibility that the actual scientific data and results which support AGW theory have been fraudulently shaped. This is much more important an issue than whether these CRU scientists and other respondent parties just were behaving badly as regards to what they wrote in emails and discussed amongst themselves.
It appears they know that if the raw data and methodologies they used are disclosed, it will be clear that they have been cherry picking and shaping the fundamental data supporting AGW.
It is important to note that it is the A of AGW that is at issue. If there is indeed GW, but it is a result of natural processes (and not man-caused by the world-wide combustion of carbon, the primary and fundamental energy source for the world’s entire economy), that the entire response required is different. In other words, adapt and prepare for inexorable natural climate change, versus forcing via political means, wide-sweeping changes in the entire world’s basis for survival and economic success.
I believe the information in the URL may be pivotal in establishing a proper foundation for honest, truthful and truly scientific examination of the climate change issue.
Forward this to any you think might be interested, including journalists and politically-involved acquaintances.
So far, they seem to be pretending nothing happened.
