The global-cooling cover-up
The Washington Times ^ | November 26, 2009 | Editorial

Posted on 11/26/2009 6:10:02 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

The climate-gate revelations have exposed an unprecedented coordinated attempt by academics to distort research for political ends. Anyone interested in accurate science should be appalled at the manipulation of data "to hide the decline [in temperature]" and deletion of e-mail exchanges and data so as not to reveal information that would support global-warming skeptics. These hacks are not just guilty of bad science. In the United Kingdom, deleting e-mail messages to prevent their disclosure from a Freedom of Information Act request is a crime.

The leaked e-mails indicate that the people at the CRU can't even figure out how their aggregate data was put together. Academics around the world who have spent years working on papers using this data must be in full panic mode. By the admission of the global-warming theocracy's own self-appointed experts, the data they have been using is simply "garbage."

Unlike these global-warming propagandists, we expect research to be done in the open. Scientists who refuse to share their data, who plot to destroy information and fail to tell other scientists how their results were calculated should be severely punished.

Legit scientists will have to take a stand and demand ruthless investigation of this fraud, or they will be lumped forever with the fraudsters.

Unlikely that scientists will ‘take a stand’ that shuts off the government grant money. AGW is a jobs program for leftwing professors.

I remember back in high school the panic was about the coming Global Ice Age. Sometime in the eighties, it became the ozone scare and somehow morphed into Global Warming. Looks like they should have stuck with the Global Cooling bullsh*t and maybe have gotten away with it. Now they are pissing down our backs and trying to convince us it is raining.

Absolutely correct.

Government grants have corrupted universities and scientific organizations world wide.

What department head in a major university is going to tell the government that global warming or whatever is the rage at the moment is BS and that they don’t want that $5 million grant?

And after the first $5 million, do you think they will refuse the second 5?

Unfortunately, you are correct, Sir. From someone on the front lines of research and engineering, it is a golden calf that is not to be trifled with in any fashion lest one be on the receiving end of a smear campaign.

And you can bet your bottom dollar NBC won’t report the story. NBC is the red headed stepchild of General Electric and GE has a big stake in junk science.

You forgot acid rain. All our forests and lakes are supposed to be dead by now—no more trees or fresh water fish.

“Scientists” do not hide data, even if it costs them grant money. These AGW folks aren’t scientists. They are con men.

There are outstanding scientists from M.I.T. and Caltech who have PROVEN man made global warming is a hoax. Of course, they are rarely, if ever, allowed on the MSM outlets.

It’s time to start revoking the degrees of some of these PhDs.
Like that’ll ever happen.

A few years ago, I read an article by a researcher from MIT. He outlined how grant money and university positions were systematically harmed if you questioned AGW. It appears he was correct.

Government grants have corrupted universities and scientific organizations world wide.

In general, government largesse is corrosive, and not just on the academic and scientific communities. Grants are just another name for bribery.
