Cooling on Phil
National Review Online ^ | 11/23/09 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 11/23/2009 7:57:43 PM PST by mathprof

On the Warmergate scandal, the Settled Scientists seem to be settling on Phil Jones, head of the Climate Research Unit, as the designated fall guy. George Monbiot in The Guardian:

It’s no use pretending this isn’t a major blow. The emails extracted by a hacker from the climatic research unit at the University of East Anglia could scarcely be more damaging. I am now convinced that they are genuine, and I’m dismayed and deeply shaken by them... There appears to be evidence here of attempts to prevent scientific data from being released, and even to destroy material that was subject to a freedom of information request.

Worse still, some of the emails suggest efforts to prevent the publication of work by climate sceptics, or to keep it out of a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. I believe that the head of the unit, Phil Jones, should now resign.

But...

I'd skip the "But...". It's dreary and pro forma stuff. Meanwhile, fellow Settled Scientist Tim Flannery is sounding ...kinda unsettled:

We’re dealing with an incomplete understanding of the way the earth system works… When we come to the last few years when we haven’t seen a continuation of that (warming) trend we don’t understand all of the factors that create earth’s climate...We just don’t understand the way the whole system works… See, these people work with models, computer modelling. So when the computer modelling and the real world data disagree you’ve got a very interesting problem… Sure for the last 10 years we’ve gone through a slight cooling trend.

Really? Golly, when I said as much a few months back, the excitable lads in the George Soros typing pool at Media Matters denounced it as a "false claim". Apparently, it's now safe to say it in polite society.

Actually, I think it is more accurate to state that the Earth System may be beyond our current comprehension.

>> We just don’t understand the way the whole system works…

... so maybe we could, like, do some REAL science (not your fake politically correct stuff) and really figure it out before we screw all of the world’s economies up fixing a giant non-problem with an even more ginormous fraud?

Naaaaah. Debate is closed!

But they sure have a complete understanding of the way gaming the political money system works.

But...But Al Gore said the scientists have reached a consensus and the debate is over.

FREEKN’ BUNCH OF FRAUDS!!! Is a polite way of putting it. Myself, I use much stronger terms that are strictly against the rules here at FR.

Thieves fighting over loot. Can be entertaining, but no moral lesson to be found.

They are relying on COMPUTER MODELS? WTF, do they not look at the hurricane computer model predictions. They are always 100% wrong.

They did reach a consensus, but it was a jedi mind trick that let you think the consensus was that global warming is real. The real consensus was that they agreed to be frauds and get rich of the idiots of the world.

Can’t help but wondering how the UK/EU folks are reacting to this news. They’ve just taxed and regulated themselves into poverty + prison. FOR A FRAUD !???????

God forgive me for thinking that you idiots deserve it.

In the furor over Warmergate (heh) the latest information from Lord Monckton is being ignored. It is very strong emperical scientific evidence that proves the assumptions (you know what they say about that word) underlying the IPCC computer models are flat wrong.

Combine that with Warmergate and a cooling planet, and I think it seems probable that a higher power has quite a sense of humor. ;-)

The IPCC CAGW models are broken.

I thold hubby that I fully expect one of these guys to either comit sucide since they lost their whole careers or for most of them to be ruined and forced into retirement. Guess the countdown now begins because he most likely will not go quitely if he feels he’s being stabbed in the back by his fellow climatologists.

Somehow I have to believe that the handprint of G-d is all over this stuff lately. It’s like all of their evil is catching up to the left all at once.

You know these “scientists” have got to find somebody to take their vengeance out on.
Their taxpayer-funded gravy train has been seriously threatened!

All they had to do was lay low and keep on faking the numbers to “prove” that man-made “global warming” actually exists and the money would keep pouring in. But no... that Phil Jones went and screwed it up for everybody.

This is some hilarious stuff.

We’re dealing with an incomplete understanding of the way the earth system works…

No, you're dealing with an incomplete understanding of how Western science and representative governments work.

Despite your ideological kinship with Gore and Soros, this isn't the Kremlin.

Cheers!

Have to say I am surprised that even hardcore Marixts like George Moonbat accept the implications of the emails. I was sure they would stonewall.
